Note: The Renewal of KVPY Fellowship is subject to the student passing the exam each year with first class 60%

(50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate or equivalent grade points and have to necessarily

pass all the subjects prescribed for that particular academic year (two semesters in case of

semester system) in his/her course of work and the participation and satisfactory performance in the .

Dear KVPY Fellow,

Sub: Summer Project – 2017

As you are aware the participation and satisfactory performance in the Summer Project every year is a pre- requisite condition for renewal of KVPY Fellowship as per the award letter and instructions mention these in to the students.

For carrying out the summer project, you may choose an expert in the field of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology, as mentor in the area of your interest and correspond with the mentor. The Institutions from where the students can do project should be Institutions of National repute or University. If it is private Institutions or industry, it should be DSIR recognized private Industries/Institutions. The project work could be on the science subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology or any inter disciplinary subjects and which is related to your area of study. The duration of the project could be two - four weeks during the summer of 2017 according to the convenience of your mentor and yourself. While approaching the mentor(s) from any of the Indian Universities or Institutes of National Importance, you may make use of the letter (To whom so it may concern) which was forwarded to you along with the offer of Fellowship award.

At the end of the Summer Project, please request the mentor to forward an assessment report about your performance addressed to The Convener, KVPY, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru – 560012 in a sealed envelope. This is one of the essential requirements for the continuation of your fellowship besides passing the examination with not less than first class (60% marks for General and 50% marks for SC/ST/PWD) in each academic year.

Please make the best use of your stay at your host institution, interacting with as many active research scientists as possible.

The expenses towards Summer Project will have to be met from your contingency grant.
