Dear Parent/Guardian,

On Wednesday, January 17th at 12:45 we will be hosting the Todd Becker Foundation’s “Where is your life headed?” assembly in the Steele gym for grades 9-11. The Todd Becker Foundation was created following the tragic death of Todd Becker, who was killed in an alcohol related car crash as a senior in high school.

The assembly tells the real-life story of the many decisions Todd Becker made that ultimately ended his life. Choice by choice and decision by decision, the message focuses not simply on one night of drinking turned tragic, but more importantly, on the seemingly innocent steps Todd took that ended his life at just 18.

The assembly includes live music by the touring band “Chye” and is told largely in part by Todd’s older brother, Keith. During the assembly, Keith shares one scripture from the Bible to help illustrate the destructive choices his brother made. Matthew 7:13 is the scripture quoted: “The highway to destruction is wide and the road that leads to it is easy for the many who choose this way. But the gateway to life is small and the narrow road that leads to it is hard, but only a few ever choose this way.” It should be noted that the presentation is very emotional; therefore, any student will be allowed to leave during the presentation.

As with any assembly put on by an outside group, you may request that your child opt-out of attending this assembly by simply contacting our office and letting Mr. Schmidt know of your desire to do so by Wednesday, January 17th. Students not attending the assembly will be given a study period.

We care about the choices our students are faced with every day, and we believe that this assembly will be a powerful tool in helping your student make positive life choices. Should you have any questions, or need further information, please do not hesitate to let us know. To learn more, visit:
