2. Instructional Philosophy

It is my belief that students who are interested in the medical field are to be held to a high standard. My students will be expected to work diligently to complete and pass the coursework. Students are to be responsible individuals who will respect their fellow classmates and the instructor. Lessons will be taught through lecture, independent work, team assignments, and critical thinking sessions. Evaluation will occur through written exams, class work, projects, quizzes both orally and written, daily participation, clinical rotations, and professional responsibility. Students are encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas without fear and are expected to ask for help when they need it.

6. Make-Up Policy and Late Work

LATE WORK: All work will be turned in as requested. If work is not turned in at the requested class period it will be considered late and 10 points will be deducted. Furthermore, 10 points may be deducted for each additional day late up to a total of three days. A conference can be set up at the students request to discuss any work that is more than three days late.

EXCUSED ABSENCES

It is the student’s responsibility to request any missing assignments. It is imperative that you ask for your missing assignments the day you return to school. If you do not inquire about your work the day you return, then late point deductions may apply.

If a test or quiz is missed, you will be expected to make up the test or quiz as soon as possible. You must see me and schedule your makeup test or quiz.

If you are absent the day before a test, you will be required to take the test as scheduled.

RETAKES:

A retake must be scheduled with me as soon as possible. It will be given after or before school and it may be a different test. The highest score you can receive is a 75.

TEST CORRECTIONS:

Students will be given half credit for every corrected answer and you will not be able to receive higher than a 75.

Students can do a retake or test correction but will not be able to choose which option they will be given. It is the teacher’s decision as to whether the class will receive a retake or test corrections for a particular unit.
