Defining Our Cause

Campus Crusade was started in 1951 at the UCLA campus by Bill and Vonette Bright. There are currently about 60 ministries under the umbrella of CCC. The Campus Ministry is one of them—that’s us. Since the beginning, God has called CCC to help fulfill the Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20) in this generation through: prayer, winning, building and sending.

Our Mission and Ministry Philosophy

We are on a mission to turn lost Utah students into lifetime, Christ-centered laborers. (Matt. 28:18–20; Matt. 9:36–38) We do this by sticking to the philosophy of Prayer, Win, Build, Send.

Prayer God wants us to depend on Him. One of the best ways to demonstrate our dependence and faith is simply by talking with the Lord about what is on our hearts, minds and what we long for Him to do on the campus. Ask the Lord to increase your faith. (Phil 1:9–11; Col 1:9–12; Col. 3:16) Ask the Lord to open the hearts of people on campus so they will be open to the gospel and respond in faith to Jesus’ love and forgiveness. (Matt. 7:7–11)

Win Taking the initiative to share our faith so that every student on every campus can hear the gospel in an attractive, meaningful manner. (Col. 1:28, Rom 10:13–14) Our definition of successful evangelism is, going out in the power of the Holy Spirit, and leaving the results up to God.

Build Offering a place where Christian students can connect with other Christians and grow in their faith. (Eph 2:10; 2 Tim 2:2)

Send Equipping students to walk with God for a lifetime and have an impact for Christ on the campus and the world. (2 Cor. 5:14–15; Rev. 5:9; Rom 12:1–2; Matt. 24:14) Every student is sent.

Our Source

We know that apart from Christ we can do nothing. So all the above is fruitless if we do not depend on the Lord to work in and through us. The Holy Spirit is the One who glorifies Christ. When we placed our trust in Christ as Savior and Lord, Christ enters the lives of believers by His Holy Spirit. Jesus said many things about Him: He is our helper. (John 14:26; 15:26)He is our teacher. (John 16:13)He gives us the power to share Christ with others. (Acts 2:8)The Holy Spirit does not focus on Himself, He glorifies Christ. (John 16:14) The Holy Spirit develops His character in our lives. (Gal. 5:22–23)

Our Scope: All Utah students- 179,000 and the world

Every student hears. We want to link arms with Christian students, volunteers and churches to help give every student an opportunity to say “Yes!” to Jesus and experience God’s love and forgiveness. We look for every available means to share Christ in a relevant and compassionate manner.

Every person on earth. We’re committed to unite with the worldwide Body of Christ to help accelerate world evangelization through ongoing training, discipleship and prayer. We want to influence a chain reaction of people reaching people with the Good News of Christ’s love and forgiveness.

We are also aware that many people who practice speaking in tongues seek to promote speaking in tongues with others. To allow this to take place in the context of our movement would detract from the nature and calling of our movement. Statement of Faith – Campus Crusade for Christ

Please sign the Statement of Faith below if you completely adhere to it.

The sole basis of our beliefs is the Bible, God's infallible written Word, the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments. We believe that it was uniquely, verbally and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit, and that it was written without error (inerrant) in the original manuscripts. It is the supreme and final authority in all matters on which it speaks. We accept those areas of doctrinal teaching on which, historically, there has been general agreement among all true Christians. Because of the specialized calling of our movement, we desire to allow for freedom of conviction on other doctrinal matters, provided that any interpretation is based upon the Bible alone, and that no such interpretation shall become an issue which hinders the ministry to which God has called us.We explicitly affirm our belief in basic Bible teachings, as follows:

1.There is one true God, eternally existing in three persons-Father, Son and Holy Spirit-each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of Deity and the characteristics ofpersonality.

2.Jesus Christ is God, the living Word, who became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth. Hence, He is perfect Deity and truehumanity united in one person forever.

3.He lived a sinless life and voluntarily atoned for the sins of men by dying on the cross as their substitute, thus satisfying divine justice and accomplishing salvation for all whotrust in Him alone.

4.He rose from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He lived and died.

5.He ascended bodily into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God the Father, where He, the only mediator between God and man, continually makes intercession forHis own.

6.Man was originally created in the image of God. He sinned by disobeying God; thus, he was alienated from his Creator. That historic fall brought all mankind under divinecondemnation.

7.Man's nature is corrupted, and he is thus totally unable to please God. Every man is in need of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

8.The salvation of man is wholly a work of God's free grace and is not the work, in whole or in part, of human works or goodness or religious ceremony. God imputes Hisrighteousness to those who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation, and thereby justifies them in His sight.

9.It is the privilege of all who are born again of the Spirit to be assured of their salvation from the very moment in which they trust Christ as their Savior. This assurance is notbased upon any kind of human merit, but is produced by the witness the Holy Spirit, who confirms in the believer the testimony of God in His written Word.

10.The Holy Spirit has come into the world to reveal and glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ to men. He convicts and draws sinners to Christ, imparts new lifeto them, continually indwells them from the moment of spiritual birth seals them until the day of redemption. His fullness, power and control are appropriated in the believer's lifeby faith.

11.Every believer is called to live so in the power of the indwelling Spirit that he will not fulfill the lust of the flesh but will bear fruit to the glory of God.

12.Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, His Body, which is composed of all men, living and dead, who have been joined to Him through saving faith.

13.God admonishes His people to assemble together regularly for worship, for participation in ordinances, for edification through the Scriptures and for mutual encouragement.

14.At physical death the believer enters immediately into eternal, conscious fellowship with the Lord and awaits the resurrection of his body to everlasting glory and blessing.

15.At physical death the unbeliever enters immediately into eternal, conscious separation from the Lord and awaits the resurrection of his body to everlasting judgment andcondemnation.

16.Jesus Christ will come again to the earth-personally, visibly and bodily -to consummate history and the eternal plan of God.

17.The Lord Jesus Christ commanded all believers to proclaim the gospel throughout the world and to disciple men of every nation. The fulfillment of that Great Commissionrequires that all worldly and personal ambitions be subordinated to a total commitment to "Him who loved us and gave Himself for us."
