1ST ANNUAL CHILDHOOD UNINTENTIONAL

INJURY PREVENTION CONFERENCE

This event provides education on the issue of childhood unintentional injuries from a local perspective. It is designed to strengthen existing collaborations and to aid in the development of new ones. Furthermore, our aim is to provide participants with information, resources, and prevention ideas that could assist them in their efforts to keep the children of Kern County safe and healthy.

WHO MAY PARTICIPATE IN THIS CONFERENCE?

This conference is intended for individuals working with young children and/or their families, including nurses, physicians, health educators, family advocates, law enforcement, fire and rescue personnel, daycare/preschool staff, child safety proponents, and community volunteers.

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES

At the end of the half-day program, the participant should be able to:

Understand the scope of childhood unintentional injuries in Kern County.

Identify possible causes resulting in unintentional injuries.

Identify potential prevention methodologies.

Utilize information in programmatic efforts.

Although there are no registration fees associated with this conference, there will be a fee for nurses wishing to obtain CEU’s for their attendance. The CEU fee schedule is as follows: $4.00 for KCDPH staff and $10.00 for non-KCDPH staff. Checks must be paid to “Nursing Staff Council.” Please send registration and payment (if applicable) to CIPP by May 20, 2002. Due to space limitations, all registration forms that are received after this date will be returned to the registrant.
