The Kent County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to provide you with the criteria and application form for our 2018 scholarship award. The Chamber will present one scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to a graduating senior who meets all of the criteria indicated.

Applications must be received in the Chamber office no later than close of business on Friday, April 27, 2018. Applications received after that will not be considered.

The Chamber’s Scholarship Committee will review the information provided by you and identify finalists, who may be requested to appear for an interview. Those applicants who are not identified as finalists will be notified by mail. Once a final selection is made, the winner at the Kent County High School or Christian Academy will be notified.

2018 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

The Kent County Chamber of Commerce will offer a scholarship to a deserving high school senior who resides in Kent County Maryland, attends one of the high schools within the County limits and has been accepted into a college of his/her choice.

For 2018, the Chamber will award one scholarship in the amount of $1,000.

The applicant must meet the following criteria.

  • Be a resident of Kent County Maryland
  • Be a graduating senior
  • Attend one of the high schools within the county limits
  • Have been accepted into college
  • Have an overall GPA of 2.5 non-weighted on a four-point scale
  • Involvement in clubs and community activities preferred, but not required.
  • Have worked for a local business during his/her high school years – strongly recommended

Attachments required:

  • A copy of the acceptance letter from college
  • A copy of transcript
  • Three letters of recommendation; school, community leader, and/or business owner
  • Short essay about your future plans (1 page, double spaced, between 250 - 300 words)

Finalists’ application packages will be reviewed by the Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Committee.

Application packages may be obtained by contacting the Chamber office at 410.810.2968.

Applicants should send or deliver their completed application package to the Kent County Chamber of Commerce at 122 N. Cross Street, Chestertown, MD 21620 no later than close of business on Friday, April 27, 2018. Applications received after that will not be considered.
