Kent Athletics Development & Education Programme

Development Day 1 – Sevenoaks School – Saturday 29th October – 1000am-1500pm.

The first training day for the 2011/12 programme will take place at SevenoaksSchool. The day will run from 10am to 1500pm and will have a structured programme where each of the four core event groups will go through basic athlete screening (range of movement) and an extended warm up.

Each of the event lead coaches will lead the screening process with support from Mark Dayson who will have provided training on the screening process prior to the first day. The screening protocol consists of 8 simple tests to primarily look at joint range of motion. Should you have any questions or concerns over this please contact Mark Dayson, details on the right hand pane.

An extended warm up will be taken by Steve Green a sport specific strength and conditioning coach and will complement the static screening process by going through a thorough warm up and using this to further identify weakness and imbalance in a more dynamic way.

These two processes are key in establishing areas that we need to work on with our athletes and may also help us to shape future development programmes based on needs.

Profiles of Steve Green and Mark Dayson can be found at the bottom of the page.

You are urged to arrive in good time so we can register you as this on the first day can lead to delays. Arrival can be any time from 0930hrs and once registered by reception in the Sennocke centre you are asked to move into the sports hall and wait for all others to arrive and further instruction. You are asked as in previous years to respect the facility and most in particular no outside muddy shoes are to be worn in the Sennocke centre. Endurance athletes going to KnowlePark must ensure spare trainers are brought with you. We are fortunate to have a great working relationship with SevenoaksSchool and as such must not take these excellent facilities for granted. You are advised to bring your own lunch as only drinks will be available at the servery.
