2002-2004US Army - 82d Airborne DivisionFort Bragg, NC

Finance company responsible for managing the active duty military pay accounts for 15,000 paratroopers assigned to the 82d Airborne Division.

Finance Company Commander

  • Deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom from Feb 2003 thru Feb 2004. Commanded a company of 65 finance and human resources soldiers that provided combat support to 5,000 US Army soldiers. Processed over 8,000 financial and personnel transactions. Contracted, budgeted, and managed over $8 million with local Iraqi contractors who provided basic life support to Army personnel. Developed a logistics system that moved over 2,000 pounds of mail daily throughout Iraq.
  • Developed and executed a training program that enabled the unit to successfully deploy to Iraq and sustain combat operations for 12 consecutive months. Established communications and logistics systems that provided basic support in an austere environment. Responsible for the accountability, maintenance, and movement of over $2 million in government equipment and weapons systems throughout Kuwait and Iraq.

2000-2002US Army - 3rd Special Forces GroupFort Bragg, NC

Comptroller

  • Managed an annual operating budget in excess of $19 million across 22 different budget programs during 2 fiscal years. 100% of operations and programs were fully funded and executed. The 22 budget programs received funding from 4 government agencies to include the Department of the Army, Department of Defense, and the State Department.
  • Managed a $7 million operating budget in Afghanistan for Army Special Forces during the early combat phases of Operation Enduring Freedom.
  • Developed and executed an accounting management system that decreased the annual un-liquidated obligations by $3 million. This allowed funds to be re-obligated to fulfill shortfalls in competing annual budget programs, which enabled the unit to maximize its operating budget. As a result, the annual budget forecasting accuracy rose from 75% to 98%.
  • Developed an annual budget program that allocated, distributed, and realigned budget dollars between all units in the organization. This enabled the organization to achieve a 100% spending rate at the end of the fiscal year and to receive additional budget dollars to execute un-funded programs.

1996-2000US Army - 208th Finance BattalionVicenza, Italy

Finance Company responsible for managing the active duty military pay accounts for the 4,000 paratroopers assigned to the Southern European Task Force.

Finance Company Disbursing Officer

  • Deployed to Bosnia and managed an $8 million cash control operation. Manged the cash flow of 5 global currencies (US Dollar, German Deutschmark, Bosnian Convertible Mark, Hungarian Forint, and Croatian Kuna) disbursed across 6 operating location at Army bases in Bosnia, Hungary, and Croatia.
  • Managed a $3 million cash control operation in Italy - 3 currencies (US Dollar, Italian Lira, and German Deutschmark). Responsible for maintaining a US Treasury checking account and two Italian checking accounts for the purpose of paying local contractors that provided life support to Army bases in theregion. Managed the payroll system for 3,000 local Italians who were employed on the same Army bases.
  • Responsible for coordinating logistics and financial support for Army and Air Force personnel staged on the eastern coast of Italy as they supported Operation Joint Guardian in Kosovo.
