Thank You for the K-8th Grade Patriotic Banquet and Performance. It was a delicious, buoyant, delightfully red-white-and-blue affair. Tricorns off to Heather King, especially, for bringing her inspired idea to life with the help of other parents and Denise at the piano. Sousa would have been pleased.
Thank You to the 7th and 8th Grades—and their director—for that invigorating presentation of the Just So Stories. Bravo and well done! We loved the chance to laugh – and laugh – and laugh. What a gift.
School Expansion Update:
Engineering studies led us to discover that a detached building, approximately 14 feetaway and 12 feet closer to Hawk Mountain Road, could prove to be a good idea. The idea of a detached building was presented to the builders, the faculty, and the school expansion team, and eventually will be to the board. Keeping the building attached could cost us more than $60,000 extra.
This detached concept has many positives, including the gain of several windows; minimal disruption to ongoing classes during construction; a less obstructed view from the church; no construction on our existing roof; the preservation of our small playing field; not having to build a fire wall; and getting to construction much sooner.
We have township approval for a detached building. We will be moving forward with this plan in mind.
You are welcome to direct comments or questions to any member of the school expansion team – Dan, Judy, Shanon, Tabitha, Leona, Roy, or Brandon (756-3551).
Yearbook Pre-Orders. Factoid #1: Out of 34 school families, 19 have ordered books at the wonderful pre-publication price of $12/copy. Soooooo, we guess the rest of you don’t want one or don’t want to save $? Factoid #2: It's a great help to have an idea of how many books to have published. 50? 60? 70? We base our order on the number of pre-orders we get (adding a few extra to that for good measure), assuming people prefer to pay less than more. After that they’re all gone.Order your yearbook soon! You can direct questions to me, Judy Synnestvedt 610-756-4210
We Get to Welcome Vivienne Twice, sort of – because she has bought a house in the area and is moving in this weekend, which simply delights us. Her new address is 4082 Blacksmith Rd., New Tripoli, PA 18066. May the house feel like your home quickly, Miss Riley. Blessings.
An Opportunity to Help Make Some Money for the KNCS Library: I am retiring as the Box Tops for Education coordinator. This use requires some time twice a year to organize and send in Box Tops together with an online submission form. If interested, please call me at 610-298-8370, or contact Carla (610-756-6140 or ). Thank you, Margaret Heinrichs
To Sunday School Teachers: General Church Education is hosting a Sunday School Conference, April 28-30, in Bryn Athyn (2:00 P.M. Friday through 2:00 P.M. Sunday). KNCS Alumni Who Became Nurses: We did leave out someone last week – Toby Powell, who works at the HamburgStateHospital. Sorry, Toby! (Toby’s wife, Anni, is also a nurse.)
Kit Cooper is Now Our Society Meal Coordinator(this repeated in case you missed it last week). Her contact info: and 215-531-0534. Thanks again, Kit.
Getting Books to Veterans: I need a strapping young (or old!) man to help me deliver some books to the VA hospital in Philadelphia. It would take most of an afternoon. Being on a fixed budget, the only compensation I can offer is lunch and a unique opportunity to exercise charity to your neighbor. My schedule is pretty open, so I would tailor the trip to yours. Thanks – Deeb (Debra Gilbert) 484-219-3606

The Kempton Fair Will be Here Before We Know It—June 15-16-17 (Thursday—Sunday)
The Kempton Fair—the one you remember from years ago, that started in 1957—is being sponsored by the KemptonCommunity Center and is alive and well. This refurbished event brings new energy and new direction, but with more of the old-time feel of yesteryear. (The “Kempton Country Fair” of recent years, an organization separate from KCC, has changed its name and location.)
For this event, we’re bringing back all the great stuff fair-goers love, such as three evenings of tractor and truck power pulls and drags; popular musical talents Crazy Hearts, Scott Marshall & Marshall’s Highway, and the Hannah Violet Trio; livestock exhibitions; baking contests; fireworks; interactive attractions for the youngsters, such as Middle-earth Children’s Theater; and much more. Then there’s the food!
And perhaps you will want to take part in the Kempton’s Got Talent competition on the Thursday evening. There is a 13-19 age group and a 20-and-above age group. Auditions are on June 3rd at KCC. On Friday evening, get yourself up for the Willie Nelson Look-Alike Contest. There will be prizes for age groups and eras. (Willie Nelson appeared at the Kempton Fair on June 17, 1967.)
All this for $8 a person on Thursday and Friday evenings (aged 10 and under are free) and $10 a carload (one person per seatbelt) on Saturday.
Would you like to be a sponsor or a vendor or maybe a volunteer to help the fun-loving Kempton Fair Committee? Leave a message at or at 610-756-6444.More information about activities and scheduled events can be found at or by looking for “Kempton Fair” on Facebook.
