Welcome to the Think Explore Grow2018Camp!!!

Enclosed you will find Camp Information and Registration Forms for Summer 2018.

Camps are weekly, on a 4-day program(Mon-Thurs) with full day and half day camp options available during our June Camps.

Half day options are broken into two age groups from (3-5yrs) 8:30am-11:30am and(6-12yrs) 12:30-3:30pm. Or our Full day optionfrom 8:30am-3:30pm with age appropriate tracks. We also offer“Lunch ‘n Learn” to keep campers mind learning over the summer. Full Day Campers will participate in Lunch n’ Learn options without additional costs. See all options below.

The structure of our camps invites academic challenges, building ofSuper Social Skillsand other memorable summer fun. Limitedkids per session. Themes change weekly.

1. BOOKWORMS(Mon-Thurs) $30 per week(Pre-k-2nd grade)

BookWorms is a program to maintain and enhance reading abilities throughout the summer. Activities focus on phonetic awareness, phonics, vocabulary and reading fluency and comprehension.

2. MATH MONSTERS (Mon-Thurs) $30 per week (all ages)

Improve addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts. In addition, we will work on strategies and models of what math looks like in our real world!

JUNE CAMPS

WEEK 1June 4-7th Monday-Thursday

THEME: GARDENING (Half and Full Day Available) *New Camp Offering

LOCATION: 777 East 900 South

Explore nature, learn where food comes from, and develop an appreciation for the environment. This camp will benefit gardeners of all abilities. Have insects invaded your squash plants? Learn how to attract beneficial insects to your garden. Do the frequent weather mood swings have you stumped? Measure and interpret weather and atmospheric data and discover how the climate plays a role in survival of garden plants. Take your garden to a whole new sustainable level and learn how to compost and collect rain water. Campers will also create their own recipe using fresh garden grown produce and receive resources on unique gardening practices. They will build a Fairy Garden and understand the use of herbs for healing and taste

WEEK 2June 11-14thMonday-Thursday

THEME:CULINARY CAMP(Half and Full Day Available)

LOCATION: 777 East 900 South

Campers turn into chefs as they maneuver their way through the kitchen and spice pots. Chefs will learn the importance of vegetables, herbs and other basics from the seed to their plate. Chefs will also learn the importance of Kitchen Safety, Nutrition and Healthy Eating, Spreading, Peeling, Rolling, Measuring, Tearing and Tossing, Stirring and Making a No Bake Recipe, Creative Decorating, Table Setting. Older Campers will practice safe knife use, how to use a Microwave, Stovetop safety, Plan a meal while learning to Read labels and explore their own Food Pyramid. This week will open their eyes and mouth to the possibility of new foods. The campers will each take home their own kitchen basics.

WEEK 3June 18-21stMonday-Thursday

THEME:STEM and WACKY SCIENTIST(Half and Full Day Available)*Updated

LOCATION: 777 East 900 South

Back again by popular demand but fully updated and expanded,come explore the fascinating world of science and technology through hands on experiments and concocting your own experiments. Your Wacky Scientist can put on their lab coat and come up with crazy, inventive and educational experiments. Campers will participate in the Inventors Lab, creating, mixing and inventing new and exciting items to change the world. Morning Campers will learn about weather, wind, rain and clouds alongside those crazy and whacky experiments. Afternoon Campers will become crazy inventors. Campers will then be given many materials to come up with their own hypothesis and put together their own experiment for the week.

WEEK 4June 25-June 28th Monday-Thursday

THEME:Super Heroes Give Back (Half and Full Day Available)*New Camp Offering

LOCATION: 777 East 900 South

Do you love Super Heroes? Do you know Super Hero’s give back in their homes as well as their communities? Come dressed as your favorite Super Hero and you will discover daily projects to learn how to get along with your friends and how to help others around us. Games, Projects and Community Service.

JULY CAMPS

WEEK 5July 9- July12thMonday-Thursday (Ages 8 and Up)* New Camp Offering

THEME:URBAN TREASURE HUNT9:00am-1:00pm

LOCATION: Drop off and Pick up at 777 East 900 South

Does your camper know our city? Does your camper know how to read maps, get on and off Trax and find their way from point A to point B? This Camp designed for children 8yrs and up will help your child become a future city planner, or at least act like one. We will have a daily Urban Treasure Hunt helping us learn crucial and important skills for navigating and learning to be more independent in their day to day life as well as our community. We will use bus, Trax and our own two feet

WEEK 6July 16-July 19thMonday-Thursday(AGES 6 and Up)

THEME:WILDERNESS CAMP 9:00-2:00PM

LOCATION: Millcreek Canyon

Let’s explore the outdoors together during this four-day wilderness camp. Learn all the basics of survival, compass reading, first aide, knot tying and what to do when we are lost. We will take hikes every day, learn basics of camping, create classic camp art and identify birds, flowers and bugs. This camp is an all-day option and an adventurous alternative for your outdoor child! Numbers are limited so sign up quick for this week of exploration!

THEME:Advanced Culinary9:00am -12pm

LOCATION: 777 East 900 South
By Popular Demand, we are offering a Limited 12 Students Advanced Cooking Class.

Students will discover some advanced cooking techniques, as well as how to Plan, Think, Budget, Supermarket Shopping for ingredients, Healthy Choices, Hygiene, Weight and Measurements. This class has been waiting to happen and I am so excited to offer it to a small group of advanced chefs!

AUGUST CAMPS

THEME:BACK TO IT * New Camp Offering(9:00am-12pm)

This 1-day camp (Girls Monday or Boys Tuesday)is designed to get your child ready for the school year. Organization, Planning, Friends, Social Skills, Teachers and dealing with back to school will be covered.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I know what sessions I am signed up for?

You will receive a conformation letter with session dates, locations and final fees. All camp fees are due prior to June 1st. The week before camp begins you will receive an email note about the camp and any further instructions.

What should I bring to camp?

At every camp you should bring a bag with a water bottle, a hat and sunscreen. In June, please make sure all kids have sweatshirts or jackets for unpredictable weather. All bags, water bottles and other items should be clearly labeled. Please have the Campers leave personal items at home. We hate to have a child lose something they love!

What if it rains during wilderness camp?

The weather is unpredictable, but it also may perfect weather. Make sure your kids have a jacket. If the weather is truly a damper on the day’s activities, it is possible the location will be changed. You will be notified if that occurs.

What if I am late?
Please call or text Adina if you are running more than 15minutes late.

Can I add sessions after June 1st?

If room is available, we welcome any late additions.

What if I need to cancel my session?

Sessions are non-refundable after May 1, 2018. You may however switch weeks if room permits.

What if my child wants to be a camp counselor?
Look on our website or call for more information.
