5. Endorsements and Planned Use

5.1 Use of materials

Due to the variability of proposals, the following may not apply. Please modify as needed.

Identify the date when deliverables will first be used and assessed. This may be in specific courses, at events, etc.

As possible, estimate the exposure and engagement of students with the work and end products. For example,“students are likely to use the modules during four contact hours” or “students will work with the deliverables throughout the 15-week, 3-credit course.”

Estimate the number of students that will be engaged with deliverables in the first year.

5.2 Endorsements from other faculty members

The strongest endorsement is a commitment to use and refine the deliverables by specific individuals in specific courses. These may be individuals within your institution, within KEEN, or external to KEEN.

Note that after the successful completion of a Topical Grant, when appropriate, additional grant proposals may be submitted to facilitate the transfer, use, and refinement of the deliverables in other departments or at other KEEN institutions.

5.3 Endorsements from non-faculty

These are optional endorsements from practitioners, e.g., industry, employers, etc.

6. Budget(please use a separate page)

Short descriptionsof each component
Faculty Salaries / x / x / $$
Other salaries (video producer, for example) / x / x / $$

6.2 Matching (if any; not required for Topical Grants)

An example: Because fringe benefits associated with additional salary or other income are excluded from the request, proposers often secure commitments to cover these costs from other funding sources.

6.3 Cost Management

All funds will be accounted for and distributed through the university Office of Sponsored Research under formal contract between the parties and following the university policies on sponsored research and finance.

7. Reporting

The Topical Grant Principal Investigator is responsible for reporting to the Foundation. These reports include:

  • Quarterly progress reports via videoconference, set up by the Foundation staff.
  • Uploaded deliverables shared with the Network via the KEEN website, Google docs, and possibleother platforms.
  • Final written narrative and financial report at the grant end date on a form provided by the Foundation.
