Responsibilities included making forecasts and rendering graphics for the news program, speaking to weather watchers, writing forecast discussions for the web page, updating forecasts on the web page, updating the weather phone line, and scripting the weather segment for the anchors in charge of presenting the forecast. This was a temporary position created to help with the coordination of vacation time for full time staff members. Other staff meteorologists included Amanda Gabeler and Rich Lupia.

As a meteorology intern, my duties included making forecasts, rendering graphics using WSI Weather Producer, and sending out forecasts to local newspapers and radio stations. My internship was done under the supervision of meteorologists Tom O’Hare and Julia Sansom.

Leadership Activities:
High School-Present / AlleghenyCollege Freshman Leadership Retreat: Fall 1999. This weekend-long retreat was based upon how to be a good leader and finding out our own personal strengths and weaknesses through inner-reflection.
Operation Enterprise: Summer 1998. A national conference held in Hamilton, NY. The week long program dealt with how to become an effective leader, a successful person in the business world and many other important skills. OE is a part of the American Management Association.
PennState Leadership Conference: Spring 2000. A day long conference held at PennStateUniversity, including a series of seminars on various aspects of leadership.
RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award): Summer 1998. At this week long conference at Hartwick College, most activities concentrated on team work and exploring how to be an effective leader with people coming from a variety of backgrounds and personalities.
Awards Received: / AlleghenyCollege Alden Scholar: 1999-2000 School Year. This award is the equivalent of making the Dean’s list. It is given for academic success.
Dean’s List: Fall 2001, Fall 2002-Winter 2003. OneontaState.
Robert W. Caputo Award: Spring 2003. Presented to a meteorologystudent for academic excellence, and outstanding contributions to the department.
