KANISHA FLEMMING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP IN PSYCHOLOGY AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT

HISTORY

Human Development and Psychology students are invited to apply for the KaNishaFlemming Scholarship in Psychology and Human Development. This scholarship is in memory of KaNishaFlemming. KaNisha passed away at the age of 22 on January 12, 2014 following a short battle with Leukemia. She was scheduled to graduate May 2014 with a double major in UWGB in Psychology and Human Development. It was KaNisha’s desire to follow her passion for helping troubled teens. She was a great role model for the numerous young people she mentored and taught. At UWGB she was involved in many different clubs and consistently found on the Dean’s list. KaNisha had the most caring personality. KaNisha was someone who impacted her community and strengthened the people around her. This scholarship is intended to be awarded to someone who has been affected by cancer whether it was their own experience with cancer or that of a loved one. A scholarship of $500 for the 2018-2019 academic year is available.

SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION CRITERIA

The scholarship recipient will be selected by a committee of two or more Human Development and/or Psychology faculty members. The committee will make a decision by considering how well each candidate meets the requirements and/or application elements listed below.

  1. Must be enrolled as an undergraduate student at UW-Green Bay
  2. Must be pursuing a major in Psychology or Human Development
  3. Preference will be given to student with a minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  4. Preference will be given to students who submit a personal statement describing how their lives have been affected by cancer(may include their own experience with cancer or that of a loved one)
