Kögel exhibits its flat semi-trailer Multi for building materials

Burtenbach, 14 April 2016

  • Flexible range of application: from transport of building materials to weather-resistant freight

Kögel will be exhibiting its successful flat semi-trailer Kögel Multi at bauma 2016. This versatile trailer is particularly suitable for the building materials transport business and for weather-resistant freight. The Kögel Multi is also available with container interlocks on request. Freight forwarders benefit from the enhanced versatility because in addition to goods on pallets and extra-wide loads, 20-foot and 40-foot containers can now also be transported and thus empty trips avoided.

The Kögel Multi is fitted out with a reinforced chassis for the particular demands of the construction industry and for container transport. With the optional container interlocks that are flush-mounted in the cargo floor, two 20-foot containers or one 40-foot container can be transported. This makes the Multi ideal for transporting various different building materials such as steel mesh grating, pallet goods, and concrete components. It is available with a 1,200 to 2,600-millimetre high front wall made of either steel or aluminium. It is also available with the option of four or five pairs of fold-down 600, 800 or 1,000 millimetre high aluminium drop sides with tie rods. The fold-down rear panel has three tie rods, T-bolts and one or two foldable steps on its inner wall. For use on sites with a shortage of space, Multi is also available with an optional self-steering axle.

Flexible application: with and without drop sides

For transport with a free plateau in the case of extra-wide goods such as prefabricated building sections, steel frames, construction steel mats or concrete plates, for example, the drop sides and insertable stakes can be removed quickly and easily without the need for tools. An optional storage box can be installed for stowing ten drop sides, the back wall panel and for all fold-down stakes. To prevent the drop sides from being scratched during loading and unloading, the mounting device is provided with a protective overlay.

Optimal load-securing, even with extra-wide loads

Even challenging freight requiring extra-wide loading can be carried by the Multi's loading platform. The optionally available extending red/white retro-reflective warning panels for the front and rear as well as the rear rotating warning lights allow safe transport of extra-wide loads. For variable, professional and time-saving load-securing of long materials and short goods, the Multi has eight pairs of optional stake pockets flush-mounted in the external frame, and another eight pairs of stake pockets inside integrated in the side members. On request, eight stake socket battens can also be built into the loading platform flush with the floor. Between the external frames and the left and right-hand side members there are five stake pockets and between each of the side members in the middle of the vehicle there are ten stake pockets which allow flexible insertion of the top-quality, square-tube insertable stakes. In the Vario-Fix steel cavity outer framework there are up to 24 pairs of lashing rings with 2,000 or 4,000 kilograms of tensile force per ring, and the front steel wall has two pairs of lashing rings. Naturally, the Kögel Multi has a certificate for load-securing of construction materials in accordance with DIN EN 12642 Code XL.

Cathodic dip-paint coating: lasting protection against corrosion

The entire vehicle frame of the Kögel Multi is given long-lasting protection against corrosion by nano-ceramic technology and cathodic dip-paint coating with subsequent UV varnishing.
