Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the Field Operations Manager this key role will have the responsibility of monitoring, managing and reporting on the performance of both existing wind farm sites and those in development in the Northern Ireland area. The main responsibilities of this role are listed but not limited to the below:

Key Responsibilities

  • Hands on day to day operation of the wind farm site and site infrastructure.
  • Fault-finding and operation on the LV / MV / HV apparatus as required.
  • Engaging specialist contractors as required.
  • Review, Monitor and report on OEM / O&M site activity.
  • Be the single point of contact for site issues.
  • Liaise with OEM’s and O&M provider on various subjects.
  • Attendmeetings on-site and report on any issues which may arise from same.
  • Monitor progress of outage work.
  • Compliance with requirements of managed service agreements for Viridian’s contracted operational wind farms.
  • Ensure safe working practices and procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure all personnel on site are safety inducted and all work on site is carried out in a safe manner.

ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE
Knowledge and Experience /
  • Degree in the area of Engineering and/or a strong wind industry trade background.
  • Broad based operational and technical knowledge of wind turbines (multi-platform, multi OEM).
  • Previous experience of supervising electrical and mechanical maintenance and repair work.
  • Proven experience of supervising high voltage electrical networks and liaising with network companies.
  • Full, clean driving license.
  • Must be available to be on call every 3 to 4 weekends (entire wind farm portfolio).

  • Familiarity with multi technology & multi wind turbine OEM platforms (Vestas, Enercon, Gamesa, Siemens & Nordex – candidates with experience of these OEMs will have a distinct advantage).
  • Experience or appreciation of PLC programming.
  • Understanding of the industry standard wind turbine safety rules.
  • Previous experience of electrical switching is desirable.
  • Previous experience of working to a safety system.
