I am a Former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, the highest court in India. Below is a summary of my qualifications and professional experience as a lawyer and as a Judge of the High Court and the Supreme Court of India.
Professional Experience
§ From 1972 to July 1994 practiced as an Advocate in the High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur and in the District Courts;
§ On December 15 1994, elevated as a Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh;
§ In 2005, appointed as administrative Judge of High Court of Madhya Pradesh;
§ On January 02, 2008, transferred as Judge of the Karnataka High Court, Bangalore;
§ On March 06 2009, sworn in as Chief Justice of High Court of Rajasthan;
§ On May 11 2009, elevated to the Bench of the Supreme Court of India;
§ Demitted office as Judge of Supreme Court of India on August, 27, 2012;
As an Advocate: Between 1972 and 1994, I conducted and argued variety of cases including those involving Constitutional Law, family disputes, Arbitration Law and Service Law, Commercial cases including those arising out of contracts.
As Judge, High Court, &
Supreme Court of India: As a Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh, I delivered a number of Judgments and decided cases pertaining to Corporate Law, Constitutional Law, Excise and Customs, Criminal Law, Administrative Law, Contract Law.
As a Judge of the High Court of Karnataka, I delivered a number of Judgments and decided cases pertaining to Contract Law, Constitutional Law, Taxation Law, Corporate Law and Administrative Law.
During my tenure as a Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court, I decided a variety of cases dealing with Administrative Law, Constitutional Law, Contract Law, Corporation Tax and Environmental Law.
Besides dealing with different types of cases as a Lawyer and then as a Judge of High Court(s), I have delivered several Judgments as a Judge of Supreme Court of India in different fields of Law like Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Contract Law, Environmental Law etc.
I am now an independent legal practitioner and doing my own independent legal work of consultation, opinion, advice and Arbitration. I serve as an Arbitrator in numerous Ad-Hoc and Institutional Arbitrations in India and abroad and as an independent expert on matters of Indian law. I am a member of Indian Council of Arbitration, New Delhi and empanelled Arbitrator of Delhi International Arbitration Centre, Karnataka Arbitration Centre, Bangalore, ICADR, New Delhi,London Court of InternationalArbitration, London, D.I.F.C. Dubai and Dubai International Arbitration Centre.
Other Activities: Appointed as Welfare Commissioner, Bhopal Gas Victims to disburse the amount of compensation to the Gas Victims of Bhopal. During my tenure, I had disposed of all the matters pending at my level.
Other Interest: My other interests include a long and meaningful association with the legal aid activities in the Country.
