Sun Country 4H Club

The annual Awards and Banquet for the Sun Country 4H club was held this month at the Singing Hills Elementary school. Awards were given to members of the club and we all enjoyed Mexican food provided by the Grant and Knight families. The Turco family provided the desserts. There were 26 members present at the meeting.
Youth Council News
There was no news from Youth Council this month.
Leaders Report
The Leaders Council reported that there will be a mandatory officer training on December 2nd at Kiowa High School. Also, the Leaders Council reported that any 4H club member is eligible to present ideas for the 2013 Elbert County Fair Snack Shack.
Dare To Be You Camp was a major success, due to the voluntary works of our club members who, raked leaves on the State Fairgrounds. They also had fun activities like playing basketball and swimming at the YMCA. There was a dance for all the attendees of the camp on Saturday night.
Old Business
There was no new business at this meeting
New Business
The club voted to continue the community service project Elbert County Coalition for Outreach Food Drive. The club will collect canned food and non perishable items for the families who are in need of them.
The Sun Country 4H Club has collected 6,341 pop tabs so far this year for the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House recycles the pop tabs and uses the money to provide housing for families who have sick children at Children’s Hospital
There were no Cloverbuds at this meeting; therefore there was no activity for the Cloverbuds.
The demonstrations this month were given by Travis Grant on his Rocketry project, Travis Knight on his Veterinary Science project, Madison Moffit on her Ceramics project, and Hanna Helgesen on her Self-determined Clothing Bleaching project.
Our next meeting will be held on December 19th at 6:30 pm at Singing Hills Elementary. We will have desert after the meeting so please bring a holiday treat to share.
