Welcome back! This year, your child and I will take a journey, a journey through one year in the history at BatesvilleHigh School as we work to record this in the 2008-09 yearbook. My goal? To teach your child how to be a life-long learnerand to be digitally readyas we prepare for the demands of the 21st Century.

Top Ten Goals for Yearbook

  15. Appreciate the history of journalism
  16. First Amendment rights
  17. Pioneers in journalism
  18. Develop photo-taking skills
  19. Pictures should be taken of every event and every student!
  20. Create a professional portfolio of work accomplished within this class.
  21. Your child will receive this rubric.
  22. Produce the spring magazine The Snapshot

  25. Inspire the theme for the 2009-2010 yearbook.

Within this class we have one rule: “Be respectful.” These young adults walk in my class having been drilled on many rules for the previous ten years; thus, this rule says it all at this point. And it works! This is a great rule!

Grades in this class count as follows:

English 11 / BHS
75%: Tests
For example: ad sales, page design, deadlines
25%: Daily
In-class work…we seldom have homework.
Out-of-class work will entail interviewing to complete
assigned stories. / 40%: First Nine Weeks
40%: Second Nine Weeks
20%: Semester Test
