Just to keep you informed, as ofJune 26, 2015, here is a brief synopsis of things being worked on/or accomplished in your City.
City Manager’s Office
Met with David Mangum, Gibbs Planning Group, to discuss the retail market study they will be conducting in the downtown area.
Attended the Bonita Springs Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award and Membership Appreciation luncheon held at the Artichoke & Company.
Met with Village of Estero Councilmember Jim Borsch to assist him with his questions.
Hired Intern Markela Ago who is working on her Masters at Florida Gulf Coast University. Markela will work at City Hall for approximately four months, part-time, being exposed to and learning our processes. She hopes to be a City Manager when she returns back to her home Country of Albania.
Met with Jennifer Reed, Gulfshore Life, for an interview on a story she is writing for the August Issue Regardingour Downtown.
Met with Finance and all Department Directors to review budget requests for 2015/16.
Met with our South GeoDivison Emergency Response partners at the annual storm season kick off meeting held at the Bonita Grande Fire District offices in order to review plans and processes for the current year.
Attended SWFla CRS User Group meeting in Fort Myers, hosted by Lee County, in order to continue efforts to coordinate various municipal and county-wide efforts regarding compliance with the NFIP regulations.
Assisted the Historic Preservation Board regarding efforts to process three (3) individual Historic Preservation Assistance Grants currently in different stages of development. One (1) grant applicant has completed construction and is in the reimbursement request stage, one (1) applicant has been granted conditional approval and has construction underway, and one (1) applicant has just submitted for approval.
Code Enforcement:
“Trash Can Band” practices are picking up in advance of the 4th of July parade; at this point there are 16 band members with growing interest.
Outreach Coordinator Peggy Douglas held a preliminary planning meeting for a neighborhood safety block party in Rosemary Park scheduled for August 15th.
Director met with Council Members regarding a rebranding of the department.
Director met with the TNR Veterinarian for an update - we are working together to develop outreach for the program including Facebook and participation in events.
Director held the monthly task force meeting with LCSO, Fire, Lee County Parks, Animal Services and Solid Waste.
Director attended the Keep Lee County Beautiful Board meeting.

Promotions for the Hurricane Preparedness Seminar at the Bonita Springs Recreation Center.
Posted Hurricane Preparedness information with a link to the EOC Website.
Held training for administrative staff to assist with implementing the Constant Contact Software.
Took the first step in implementing the Constant Contact Software by sending an introductory e-blast to approximately 77,000 email addresses.

Development Services:
IFAS/UF FFL certification inspections of city parks June 10-12.
Florida Green Building Coalition Conference on June 18.
MPO Bicycle/Pedestrian Coordinating Committee meeting June 23.
Habitat for Humanity FGBC homes certification off Red Blossom Court June 25.
Staff attended the ribbon cutting for Holiday Motorsports, one of the city’s most recent infill redevelopment projects by a small local business.
The rezoning case for the Hyatt resort expansion has been fast-tracked and is tentatively scheduled for the July 21st Zoning Board.
Community Development has been averaging approximately 5 pre-application meetings a week with potential and existingprojects.
Community Development met with Special Coatings, an Economic Development Incentive Program recipient, on their expedited permitting process.
Bonita Bay Tennis Renovation: Limited Development Order is currently under review for the addition of a restroom building, relocating three tennis courts and pedestrian site access improvements.
Center of Bonita: Development Order Minor Change is currently under review for Naples Community Hospital’s Rehabilitation Center Site Upgrades, such as façade improvements and parking reconfiguration.
Bay Landing Memory Care:Active Construction and started vertical construction of buildings. Memory Care Facility plans to open in early 2016.
Bonita National: Staff is currently reviewing the resubmittal of Phase 2, which includes the addition of the Amenity Center, and Phase 4, which consists of 92 Multi-Family Units.
Terraces Shade Canopy: Limited Development Order is currently under review to add a shade structure for the existing Bocce Courts.
Cordera: A Certificate of Compliance has been issued by Community Development for portions of this 138 unit subdivision.
Finance:
Updating revenue projections for the FY 2015-2016 budget.
Meetings with individual departments to review the budget requests.
Planning for the implementation of the new budget software.
Drafting a comprehensive Financial Policy.
Human Resources/Administrative Services:
New Hire, Brendan Buckley started on June 22nd as our IT Help Desk Technician.
Currently accepting applications for Code Enforcement Officer due to a retirement on July 3rd.
Held two all staff meetings to discuss the upcoming proposed changes.
Provided lunch from Olive Garden to all staff following the meetings as a thank you for their hard work.
Debbie Filipek attended the Florida Association of City Clerks conference in Orlando June 22-24th.
Storage closet in Room 118 was cleaned and organized.
Schedule construction of door in City Council chambers for July 6 – 8. The door will access the current outside storage closet into chambers.
LCSO:
Bait Bike Suppression Operation.

Assisted Narcotics in several active Narcotics Investigations.
Conducted State Probation Checks.
Traffic Operation S. Tamiami Trail and Bonita Bay Boulevard.
Conducted Juvenile Checks and Drug Testing.
Attended monthly Code Enforcement Meeting.
ATV Patrol in East Bonita.
Parks & Rec:
Cottage renovations are completed. Gutters and new exterior-grade hardwood doors are installed, and repainting is completed.

Public Works:
Downtown Improvement Project: Contractor continues to work on the development of a GMP (Guaranteed Maximum Price) for the project.
Shangri-La Wall & Sidewalk: Completed construction of both the wall and sidewalk, sodding and pavement markings are all that remain to be completed.
Paradise Road Sidewalk: Continued construction of the sidewalk, project is 85% complete. (See Photo)
Oak Creek Dredging: Project Complete.
Landscaping US 41 & East Terry Street: Construction continues with work on irrigation installation as well as plantings on both US 41 and East Terry St. Installed coconut palms in the Imperial River bridge approaches and medians (See Photo)
Florida Stormwater Association: Gave a power-point presentation on the City’s GIS based stormwater Best Management Practice Assessment Tool at the Florida Stormwater Associations annual conference.
Leadership Bonita: Gave a power-point presentation to the 2015-16 Leadership Bonita Class on the City’s Downtown Improvement Project.
