Jumpstart is an early childhood intervention program. Undergraduate students are trained to serve in a small group tutoring relationship with at-risk preschool children. Jumpstart is an AmeriCorps program which also offers assistantship opportunities to graduate students. Benefits include a tuition waiver, hourly wage, and $1,250 AmeriCorps EducationAward. The following assistantship opportunities are available. Interviewing for all positions begins February 1st.

Jumpstart Team Leader (1-16positions):

A Team Leader manages 5-7college student tutors to provide educational activities to preschool children. Responsibilities include planning and implementing effective Jumpstart sessions with children; coaching tutors on the use of Jumpstart curriculum and developmentally appropriate interactions with young children; and facilitation of team meetings. In addition, Team Leaders provide training and oversee team administration. Playing a variety of roles including coach, trainer, observer and manager, Team Leaders are essential to ensuring the high quality of the Jumpstart program.This position requires availability Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 2:00-7:30, and Fridays 8:45-11:45. These hours are required for both fall and spring semesters. Applicants must have reliable transportation. (17-20 hours per week; 10 month position beginning August 1st and ending May 15th)

Jumpstart Volunteer Coordinator (1-2 positions)

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and recruiting volunteers for all Jumpstart community service events. In addition, this person is responsible for a wide range of promotional and marketing activities, including the Jumpstart newsletter. The Volunteer Coordinator fundraises to secure additional resources for the program throughout the year.This position requires availability Fridays 8:45-9:45both fall and spring semesters. Applicants must have reliable transportation.(20 hours per week; 10 month position beginning August 1st

and ending May 15th)

Jumpstart Project Coordinator (1-4 positions):

These positions oversee special projects needs of the program. The Project Coordinator works closely with the Site Manager to recruit, prepare and provide training, assist and facilitate with staff meetings, manage student timesheets, support program evaluation, maintain database and file management, and purchase/prepare all materials related to programming.Applicants must have reliable transportation. The Project Coordinator is not eligible to receive the AmeriCorps Education Award. This position requires availability Fridays 8:30-9:45both fall and spring semesters. (20 hours per week; 10 month position beginning August 1st and ending May 15th)
