JudeOne Defend God’s Truth

Jude 1:1 From Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and the brother of James.

To the chosen ones called and set aside to live in the love of God the Father and protected by Jesus Christ.

Jude 1:2 May your mercy, peace, and love be multiplied.

Jude 1:3 My dear friends, I am excited writing to you about God's saving power at work in our lives. And I must ask you to defend the unchanging truth of God’s good news that He has once for all of time given to his people.

Jude 1:4 Because godless people sneak in among us saying, "God is forgiving and so it is all right to live immoral lives." They even deny that we must obey Jesus Christ as our only Master and Lord. But the Scriptures warned us long ago that these people are doomed for turning against Jesus.

Jude 1:5 Don't forget what happened to the nation of Israel our Lord rescued from Egypt. Some of them did not believe God and were later destroyed.

Jude 1:6 And the angels who refused to stay within their work assigned by God and left their proper places. God chained them up with everlasting chains and is now keeping them in dark pits until His great day of judgment.

Jude 1:7 And the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns. Their people were immoral with sexual sins. God made an example of judgment with them and punished them with eternal fire as a warning that God punishes evil.

Jude 1:8 They follow their sensual dreams and schemes of the flesh. They reject God’s authority and even ridicule the power of the angels.

Jude 1:9 Even Michael, the mighty chief angel, did not dare insult Satan when the two of them were arguing about the body of Moses. All Michael said was, "The Lord will punish you!"

Jude 1:10 But these people insult powers they don't understand. They are like senseless animals destroyed because they live only for their base desires.

Jude 1:11 They are in deep trouble because they follow the evil example of Cain who murdered Abel and have made the same mistake as Balaam chasing money. They have rebelled against God, as Korah did for the lust for power, and will be destroyed.

Jude 1:12 They are like stains spoiling your fellowship dinners by acting shameful and self serving, without the fear of the Lord. They are like clouds, carried about by the wind, promising the dry land rain but never bringing rain. They are like lifeless trees, uprooted and dead, unable to produce fruit at the harvest.

Jude 1:13 Their shameful deeds rise up like dirty foam on wild ocean waves. They are like the wandering stars forever doomed for the darkest pits of hell.

Jude 1:14 Now Enoch was the seventh in line after Adam, and he prophesized about these people when he said: Look! The Lord is coming with tens of thousands of His holy ones

Jude 1:15 bringing judgment to the world, punishing the ungodly people for all the evil deeds they have done in rebellion and all the evil insults and accusations they have ever said against the Lord.

Jude 1:16 These people grumble and complain as they live by their own selfish desires. They brag about themselves and flatter others to get what they want.

Jude 1:17 My dear friends, keep in mind the warnings you were given by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ

Jude 1:18 that in the last days, selfish and godless people would start making fun of God and seeking only the evils of their own desires.

Jude 1:19 These people divide you up into separate groups and make you fight against one another for their desires are only for this life since they don't have God's Spirit living within them.

Jude 1:20 But you, dear friends, keep building your life upon the foundation of your holy faith in God as the Holy Spirit directs you in prayer.

Jude 1:21 And live a lifestyle that God's love can bless you as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to show how kind he is by giving you eternal life.

Jude 1:22 Convince those who have doubts about their faith in Jesus.

Jude 1:23 Rescue those who need salvation from judgment, as you would rescue someone from the flames of a fire, but avoid the contamination of their evil deeds.

Jude 1:24 Offer praise to God for only God can keep you from falling and make you pure and joyful in his glorious presence.

Jude 1:25 For now and forevermore, our wise and only God is worthy of glory, honor, power, and authority for God alone is our Savior.

Amen.
