JRC technical workshop on LULUCF reporting

This workshop will address technical issues related to the reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals from the Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF) sector.

Theworkshop aims to gather experts from EU Member States (MS) to share their experience in thelight of any submissions done under Decision 529/2013/EU and under the UNFCCC/Kyoto Protocol (KP). Specific issues will include difficulties in filling the new CRF tables, the UNFCCC land transition matrix, comparability between UNFCCC and KP CRF tables, data for Cropland and Grazing Land management (CM and GM), Forest Management Reference Level (FMRL) and technical corrections, Harvested Wood Products (HWP) and Natural disturbances, etc.

Expected participants (max. 2 per country) include national experts responsible for the LULUCF sector and GHG inventory compilers.

Session 2 - Problem-solving session focused on problems and questions raised by MS (please prepare one question/problem/example for each MS). Example of topics: difficulties in filling the new CRF tables, the new UNFCCC land transition matrix, comparability between UNFCCC and KP CRF tables (e.g. on HWP), reference level and technical corrections, HWP, Natural disturbances (i.e., background level and margin), etc. / 16.00 - 18.30

Registration. Please note that online registration is mandatory for all participants. Participants have to register via JRC Register for Events Module, available at: https://web.jrc.ec.europa.eu/rem/. The deadline for registration is 19 April 2017.

After logging in, you need to select "LULUCF Meeting 2017" from the scroll-down menu (All Events>LULUCF Meeting 2017) and fill in the online form. Those participants who have never used this system before will have to create a user account to log in. You will receive an automated confirmation message from the system once you register, and another confirmation email after the registration deadline.

Transfers. Transfers to/from airport and to/from hotel and conference venue will be arranged by the JRC, based on your online registration to the workshop. Few days before the workshop you will receive (from Marek Kedzierski) all details on where the taxi picks you up in the airport.

Please also note that JRC organizes transfers only from the airports of Milano Malpensa (about 50 minutes) or Milano Linate (about 80 minutes) and major railway stations in/around Milano (so avoid flying to Milano Bergamo from where you have to find yourself a way to arrive to one of points which are serviced by JRC taxi or directly to Ispra).
