Criteria for Workshop Proposals
The Joy of Childhood Conference Committee is pleased to announce our annual Joy of Childhood Conference taking place on November 2, 2013 in Richmond Hill, Ontario.
We are accepting proposals from dynamic presenters of innovative, interesting and exciting workshops for this year’s Joy of Childhood Conference. It is our goal to present workshops for a variety of EarlyLearning professionals working with children ages 0 to 12 years old including: family child care providers, thoseworking with children of all ages, children with special needs, parents, facility administrators and centrestaff. It is our goal to promote and develop quality,professional care for all children in York Region.
Proposals must be submitted no later than May 3rd, 2013. No proposals will be accepted after this date.
Content Priorities for 2013
- Administration and Leadership Development (including Team building)
- Child Development and Curriculum Based (e.g. science, gross motor, early literacy,
documentation, etc)
- Behaviour Guidance
- Self Regulation
- Professional and Personal growth (e.g. dealing with change, motivation, rejuvenation, wellness,
stress management)
- Community Building (Parent Engagement)
- Early Learning and Care Trends (e.g. Reconceptualizing Early Learning and Care, ELECT etc)
- Cultural awareness and diversity
Each workshop session is approximately 2 hours in length in the morning. (Times to be announced). When planning for the presentation of a workshop please keep in mind that delegates attending often like to receive handouts. Please ensure that sufficient copies are provided.
Please note the Joy of Childhood Conference is a non-profit conference. If this is an opportunity to advertise your business, please consider waiving your fee. We would greatly appreciate presenters willing to volunteer their time. We ask that presenters keep the costs to a minimum and all costs must be included in your fee. Once a proposal has been accepted by the committee, all additional costs will be the responsibility of the presenter.
Please submit your proposals to Franca Di Stefano no later than May 3rd, 2013. A Joy of Childhood Conference representative will contact presenters once a decision has been made.

(Please note- a minimum of 10 delegates must be registered for all workshops to proceed. At the committee’s discretion, workshops may be cancelled due to low enrolment. A minimum of 5 days notice will be provided to presenters with no penalty to the committee.)
