COPYRIGHT TRANSFER AGREEMENTS (CTAs)
Signed CTAs are required from all authors before a manuscript can be published. These can be sent to the Editorial Office via fax, email (scanned) or mail; hard copies are not required. The authors don’t all need to sign the same copy of the form and are allowed to sign and return separately if they choose.
If Supplemental Digital Content (SDC) is provided and was created by someone other than the author of the manuscript, a separate SDC copyright form is needed.

FIGURES & TABLES
Format: Figures should be submitted in one of the three acceptable formats: TIFF, EPS, or PPT. PowerPoint (PPT) files are generally used as a last resort for authors who cannot get their figures to pass the Artwork Quality Check in Editorial Manager. Use of PPT files is discouraged by Production, since the figures do not meet the minimum resolution requirements for print.
Resolution: The most common reason for an AQC failure is low resolution. Images must have a resolution of 300dpi or higher, while line art (graphs, etc.) must be at least 1200dpi.
Color: Files submitted in the wrong color format will also fail the AQC. Color figures should be submitted in the CMYK color format, not RGB. Production can easily correct this error, however, so this is an allowable failure.
Tables: Tables must be submitted as MS Word (or other compatible word processor) documents.
Each table and figure should be uploaded separately.
Permissions
Permission to reprint figures and/or tables that have previously been published may be required. If the author notes in the cover letter or in the manuscript that the figures or tables are not original, be sure to follow through for the permissions documentation. It is the author’s responsibility to obtain permission and pay any fees, but it is your responsibility to ensure that proof of the permission being granted is received.

Manuscripts Under Review
The default timeframe for reviews is xx days.
It’s a good idea to keep track of outstanding reviews through the Reports function. This will let you see when reviews are due and allow you to easily send reminders to late reviewers.
(Tip: You may find it useful to designate one day per week every week to run reports and send reviewer reminders)
Invitation reminders:
You can check the status of your reviewer invitations with the Reports function (on the Main Menu page).
Click on ‘Reports’, then on ReviewerInvited-NoResponseReport,
- enter the search parameters
- click Submit
A list of the reviewers who were invited but who have not yet replied will appear.
- Select all of the reviewers you would like to send reminders to
- click ‘Send Reminders’
- on the next page you can select which letter you’d like to send
Late Review Reminders:

Notes:
If you receive an E-mail telling you the MS was not properly transmitted to Production, contact the Production Editor to verify that the files were not received; copy Editorial Solutions () on the email. If the files were not received, ask Editorial Solutions to re-release the files. This is a minor tick that happens very rarely.
Once you transmit a manuscript to Production, you cannot add anything to the submission via EM and must notify the Production Editor if you want to add any missing items. The Production Editor will contact you with any questions or problems (author corrections, other forms of author contact etc.).
