14.2VETERAN DONATIONS POINTS

Members who take books etc., to the hospital are required to maintain a record for tabulation in
conjunction to the Stark Award Each chapter should donate comfort items, books, magazines, or
misc. items. These are to be delivered personally, or by UPS to the hospital nearest them. Monitory
donations from chapters are also welcomed and can be made to the VA Volunteer Advisory Board.
Items purchased will be in the name of the chapter. All donations are to b filed on form VA-1
Veterans Donations, at the time of the donation for records at the VA Center. A copy of the form VA-
1 should be kept at the chapter level to assist the Committee Chairman in tabulating the points for the
month. Anyone may take donations to the VA Center, but be sure to report them to the Chapter
Chairman.,

Below are the areas that count points toward the USS Stark Memorial Award.

Points

1. Chapter member(s) appointed to Veterans Adm. Council or equivalent

organizations. (Count one time per year per member)25

Member may count either item 2 or 3 when reporting service, but may not count BOTH;

2. Each Hour served in VA Volunteer Service capacity. (Verified by local VA

Hospital Report) (per hour)10

3. Each SAR member visiting a confined Veteran in a VA Hospital, Nursing

Home or at his home. (Each Veteran Visrted^nax 3 visits per hour)5

4. Each MILE TRAVELED round trip to visit a Veteran in a VA Hospital,

9. Each PUBLICATION donated to a VA Library, reading room. (Magazine, Paperback
