Joliet Jaguar Hockey Club

Attendance and Tournament Policy

Attendance:

Players and parents must realize that being a member of the Jaguar Hockey Club (JHC) is a significant commitment. Although attendance policy excuses certain types of absences, it is extremely important to remember that hockey is a TEAM sport and that the entire team suffers if any of its members are absent. Parents and players are expected to make every effort to be responsible, contributing members of their teams. Parents and players must be willing to abide by these policies before committing to the JHC.

  1. Players are required to attend all scheduled games, practices, off-ice sessions, and skills clinics over the course of the season.
  2. Attendance for games and/or tournaments is required. This includes, but not limited to, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Martin Luther King and Presidents Day holiday weekends.
  3. NIHL, NWHL, and CUHL (Chicago United Hockey League) players are required to attend all scheduled events regardless of whether or not they coincide with a particular school calendar.
  4. Head Coaches are responsible for enforcing penalties on unexcused absences. These rules, as well as any other rules regarding disciplinary matters, shall be applied consistently to all players. It will be the responsibility of the Head Coach and Team Manager to determine if any absence is excused or unexcused. Any planned absence, not discussed with the coach and/or manager prior to absence will, by definition, be deemed unexcused. Head Coaches will deal with unexcused absences as he describes in team/parent/player meeting at the start of the season. Sitting periods of games, suspensions from games, etc shall be set forth in this meeting.

Tournaments and Trips:

“Trips” are defined as travel that requires an overnight stay. All teams will have tournament trips as well as possibly regular season or playoff trips. The number will depend on the Head Coach and JHC Director. The purpose of overnight hockey tournaments is to provide an enjoyable environment for teammates to bond, as well as experience an appropriate level of competition. Players need to be available for trips throughout the season as chosen by the Head Coach and JHC Director. These trips may include all holiday weekends that occur during each season.

Upon completion of your players’ official roster being certified by the AHAI registrar, each player’s parent/guardian agrees to pay their portion of all tournament fees and related expenses including, but not limited to:

  1. Tournament registration fees
  2. Payment for officials (if applicable)
  3. Head Coach’s hotel room
  4. Assistant coach’s hotel room (if coach is a non-parent)
  5. Head Coach team travel expense (if group bus is taken)
  • All players are required to participate in all tournaments team participates in as determined by the Head Coach or JHC Director unless player is granted an excused absence by the head coach, JHC Director or the JHC Board at the time of the tournaments announcement.
  • All players are required to pay regardless if player is able to participate unless player is hurt or granted an excused absence by the Head Coach, JHC Director or the JHC Board at the time of tournament announcement.
  • ABSOLUTELY ZERO REFUNDS SHALL BE GIVEN.
  • All players are required to stay at the team hotel as determined by the hosting tournament.
  • All travel expenses are the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
  • These rules apply for both fall and spring sessions and CUHL.
