The Committee notes that Ireland is broadly supportive of the proposal in principle. Given the very wide scope of this proposal, it was agreed that this proposal warrants further scrutiny. However, given that negotiation on the proposal has only started and therefore that there may be more clarity with regard to any implications on the proposal in the Autumn, it was agreed that in the first instance, the Department will be asked to provide an update to the Committee, at the end of October, indicating the progress and developments with regard to the proposal.
