Please join the Syracuse University Alumni Club of Central New Yorkfor a spectacular weekend at Syracuse University’s Minnowbrook Conference Center located on picturesque Blue Mountain Lake in the Adirondack Mountains.

Michael Veley is the Rhonda S. Falk Endowed Professor of Sport Management at SU’s Falk College. He has fostered experiential learning and social responsibility as signature aspects of the sport management program, which have contributed to its reputation for excellence and best practices in sport management education across the country.

Veley's leadership and deep connections in the sports and event industries have created unique, ongoing experiential learning and faculty-student research partnerships with organizations such as the New York Yankees, AEG Worldwide, the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and the National Basketball Association Development League, among others. He has helped create an internationally regarded "Who's Who in Sports" advisory board that consists of 26 members, including 16 company presidents, founders and CEOs.

Veley's professional background includes extensive communications, public relations and sport management experience, including management of several NCAA tournaments. In addition to his role in the Falk College, Veley was named Syracuse University's "Voice of the Carrier Dome" in 2006 and is the public address announcer for SU football, men's basketball and men's lacrosse games. He is an active leader throughout the local and statewide sport communities, as well as the industry on an international level.

Veley will talk about sports in America. He will discuss the economic impact of sports and college athletics: past, present and future. He will also talk about SU’s Sport Management Program, including the first Sport Analytics degree in North America.

Minnowbrook is a unique 28-acre mountain retreat owned and operated by Syracuse University that was designed in the lavish, grand-lodge Adirondack Great Camp style of the 19th century. Enjoy gourmet meals in a beautiful setting. The weekend includes a superb program, wonderfullyAdirondack lodging, and six delicious gourmet meals.Refreshments are always available.Minnowbrook is only 3 hours from Syracuse and 2 hours from Albany!We gather on Friday afternoon before dinner and the weekend ends after lunch on Sunday. Cost is the same as 2015 - $485 single room occupancy and $430/person in a double room.
