Join our international team at Europeade – this summer’s largest Music & Dance Festival in Helsingborg!

Would you like to be part of a core team helping create a fantastic folk dance & music event for thousands of European folk dancers and musicians in August this year?

If so, you might be the person we are looking for!

Between 5-9 of August 2015, Helsingborg welcomes some 6000 folk dancers from all around Europe. In order to make this a great and memorable event for all our guests, we need your help. You don’t need any previous work experience, more important will be your interest in sharing a sense of joy, companionship and good hosting skills.

We offer you a unique opportunity to expand your own network whilst supporting one of the international dance groups and taking part in activities during the festival. YOU will be one of the reasons why our guests feel welcome and part of an exciting European community!

The Europeade participants will be staying overnight in local schools. During the daytime they will participate in concerts and performances in and around Helsingborg. The City of Helsingborg will host a meeting area for volunteers at the Helsingborg Arena festival hub, as well as a craft market and Europeade photo exhibition.

During the evenings, you and the festival participants are invited to socialise at various festivities such as the official opening ceremony and evening dinners at Olympiahallen. You will be able to watch shows on the many stages located around Helsingborg, and finish off the week at the final festival ceremony.

How will you be able to help?

We are looking for volunteer guides with European language skills and a good grasp of how things generally work in Sweden. You will be the host for one specific dance group during their whole stay, 5-9 August. Local knowledge of Helsingborg helps, but is not a requirement as there will be a 24/7 support team to help out with more specific questions. Chances are that you will make several good friends, and we know for sure that your group of guests will be very grateful for your time and effort!

As a host, you need to be available to your group during their stay, either in person or via phone/chat depending on the level of support required from them. You will welcome your group when they arrive in Helsingborg and travel with them to their accommodation. Every group has a coordinator, with whom you can agree when to meet up the next day, any help they need with translating, general information about Sweden and how things work here.

Which kind of compensation can I expect as a Europeade guide?

  • Food & drink whilst on duty
  • Europeade T-shirt
  • Evening information meeting on May 21st and training sessions, including a First Aid certificate
  • Diploma/certificate of work from The City of Helsingborg
  • Possibility to stay overnight at your group’s accommodation if you are not local to Helsingborg
  • Last but not least, a great opportunity to expand your personal network! All guides signing up via HIC will be able to connect prior to and during the Europeade week though our social media channels
