This meet is heldin memory of John Grootveld Sr. An OSOA memorial fund is set up to help educate swimming officials in Ontario. TSC contributes $0.60 from every swim tothe John Grootveld Sr memorial fund to support Ontarioswim officials’ education.

Meet Management reserves the right to refuse entry to any swimmer not providing an appropriate SNC registration number. Ages submitted are to be as of 10 April 2014.

Awards:Individual event 1st to 8th place ribbons will be awarded for the following age groups: 10 & under, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 & over. No awards for relays. Heat winner buttons will be awarded during 12&under sessions. Coaches, please pick up ribbons at the end of the final session prior to leaving. There will be no scoring at this meet.

Meet Results:The meet program will be run on Hy-Tek Meet Manager. Results will be posted as quickly as possible at the meet and uploaded as soon as possible to . Live results will be uploaded to Meet Mobile as soon as possible and the link will be available at .

Entries: This is a time standard meet and coaches are reminded that entry standards are in place to ensure session duration does not exceed 4.5 hours. Qualifying standard for entry in an individual event is “E” Standard from Swim Ontario Age Group Standards 2012-2016 – LC for swimmers aged 13 over and Swim Ontario Festival Standards 2012-2016 – LC for swimmers aged 12 & under. Swimmers 12 & under who wish to enter a distance event on Thursday evening (800/1500) must qualify at the time standard for 13 year olds. Time Standards are attached to this document. The Toronto Swim Club reserves the right to enter non-conforming swimmers.

First preference will be given to Toronto Swim Club swimmers. This is an invitational meet. Participation in this meet is at the full discretion of the Toronto Swim Club. Swimmers may swim a maximum of 1individual distance event (800/1500) during the Thursday evening session and a maximum of 3 individual events and 1 relay event in each of the Saturday and Sunday sessions. Meet Management reserves the right to limit the number of heats if necessary to keep session duration within 4.5 hours.

The 200 IM and 400 Freestyle may be limited to the fastest 4 heats if necessary. 400 Freestyle may be swum two per lane. 800/1500 Freestyle will be limited to the fastest swimmers, and swum 2 per lane if necessary.

Foreign

Competitors:Foreign competitors are welcome, subject to the following provisions.All swimmers and coaches must be duly registered and residents of the governing body for which they are competing. All swimmers and coaches must be in good standing with their respective governing swim body. All swimmers and coaches must have primary residence within the province /state or country for which they claim registration. Proof of residency may be green card, student ID, driver’s license, college residence or other document as deemed acceptable by Swim Ontario and shall be submitted with the Proof of Residence and Registration Status form to Swim Ontario.

Entry Deadline:All entries must be in Hy-tek format and submitted through No entries will be accepted directly by meet management. Standard Entry limitations will apply. Spaces will be held for teams that participated last year, on a first come first served basis, until March 16, 2014, unless the meet fills prior to that date. All other team entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis after that time until the meet is full. Please submit early to ensure your place. The number of heats may be restricted to ensure session times. Entry deadline is Thursday March 27, 2014. Any entries received after the deadline will only be accepted if time permits and may not be included in pre-printed meet programs. Changes to entries will not be accepted after 11:59PMThursday April 3, 2014. After that time, fees will be calculated; no refunds will be granted for scratched or missed swims.

Relay swimmers must be entered in a non-relay event in order to compete.

Meet management reserves the right to adjust the session times and event order if necessary. Any session time changes will be posted on Toronto Swim Club's website at

Seeding:Entries must be submitted using provable times. All entries must be submitted with LC times; using the default conversion factor in Hy-tek Meet Manger for SC times. Please submit accurate times. Swimmers who do not submit official recorded times (NT) will be removed from the meet. Meet Management reserves the right to delete a swimmer from an entry or results file for incorrect registration number or date of birth. Entries with qualifying times shall be seeded accordingly.

Fees include Gold Bonus, HST, and $0.60 donation to John Grootveld Sr Memorial Fund. Fees must be paid to the Clerk of Course prior to the start of the first session. Please bring a cheque payable to Toronto Swim Club.

Scratches:Scratches from time final events are to be submitted to the Clerk of Course desk no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of the session. Swimmers who do not scratch and do not swim in an event for which they are seeded will not be subject to a scratch penalty.

Check In:There is a positive check in for 400, 800, and 1500 metre events at the Clerk of Course desk no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of the session. Failure to check in will result in removal of the swimmer from the event.

Relays:Name changes for relays must be submitted to the Clerk of Course no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of the session.

Deck Entries:Meet management may accept deck entries for empty lanes only (no new heats will be created). Swimmers entered on deck must provide a valid SNC registration number as an active competitive swimmer, date of birth, and gender. Charge for deck entries is $15 per entry, payable in cash prior to the event. Please have exact change.

Splits:Meet management requires that any coach wishing to rely on a time achieved by the swimmer for an interval shorter than the total distance of the event shall so advise the Referee prior to the commencement of the session.

Coaches Meeting:Technical meeting will be on deck at the north (shallower) end of the pool at4:20 PM on April 10, 2014.

SNC Coach

Registration Policy: The SNC coach registration policy states that all coaches attending any sanctioned competition must have a minimum NCCP coaching status. By the entry deadline, all teams must submita list of coaches attending the meet. Meet management will cross-reference this list with the Swim Ontario Coach ComplianceList ( both prior to the competition as well as at registration. Coaches not found to be on the compliance list will not be eligible to participate in the meet.

CSCTA Policy:As per the CSCTA/OSCA/SNC coach registration policies and insurance all coaches will be asked to prove membership in CSCTA. Coaches will not receive heat sheets if they cannot prove CSCTA membership. Coaches must have CSCTA identification for deck access.

OSOA Policy:Only competitors, certified coaches and officials are allowed on deck. Noother person is permitted on deck unless expressly authorized by the Meet Manager.

Rules/Safety:SNC warm-up procedures will be in effect. Please read and adhere to the safety procedures.

Disclaimer:Teams entering in the meet must advise the swimmer’s parents and/or guardians that the Board, coaches and members of the Toronto Swim Club are committed to operating a successful and safe meet and that all reasonable precautions will be put in place to ensure the swimmer’s safety. As such, members, coaches and the Board assume no responsibility for swimmers who are left at the pool by their parents or guardians, and whose parents fail to pick up their children in time at the end of the session. Parents who plan to drop their child off are responsible for ensuring their safety before, during and after the Meet. To ensure that, they should confirm that their child(ren)/swimmer(s) arrive safely on deck, that they are placed in the care of their coach(es) and that appropriate arrangements are made for them to be picked up once they have finished their events.

RISK MANAGEMENT / WARM-UP PROCEDURES 2010

During the designated warm-up period, the meet management committee shall be responsible for ensuring that all Risk Management/Warm-up procedures are followed. It is incumbent on all participants, i.e. meet management, coaches, swimmers, and officials to comply with these procedures. Non-compliance with these procedures will result in a warning or removal of the swimmer from the warm-up pool, and possible further reporting to meet management and the Referee for action under rule SW 2.1.1.

Meet management shall designate Safety Marshals to actively monitor the warm-up period in the competition pool and ensure compliance with these procedures. Safety Marshals should be notified of any disabled swimmers who are participating in warm-ups. Additional “practice” pools, if any, are to be supervised by lifeguards and coaches.

“Safety Marshals shall be responsible to the Referee for all aspects of safety related to conduct during the warm-up period ….. and shall ensure that all appropriate warm-up procedures are followed.” (CSW 2.13.1.5)

GENERAL WARM-UP RULES:

• Swimmers shall enter the water FEET FIRST in a cautious manner.

• No Running on the pool deck or Diving from the side of the pool.

• Meet Management shall provide signage to indicate designated lane use during warm-up.

• Notices/barriers shall be placed on starting blocks to prevent diving during the general warm-up.

• Diving Starts are only permitted in designated Sprint Lanes during the warm-up period.

• Lanes shall be open primarily for ‘Circle Swimming’ during the General warm-up period.

• Coaches and swimmers shall allow Backstrokers & SWAD the ‘right of way’ for safetypurposes.

• Meet Management may designate a Sprint Lane(s) and/or a Pace Lane(s) throughout the general warm-up period.

SPECIFIC/SPRINT WARM-UP PERIOD:

• Sprint and Pace lanes must be opened for at least the last 30 minutes of warm-ups or asdesignated by meetmanagement.

• Outside Lanes should be designated as Sprint Lanes.

• Only ‘one-way’ swimming shall be permitted in Sprint Lanes.

• Sprint Lanes, Pace Lanes, and Circle Swimming lanes shall be clearly marked with signage.

The following statement shall appear in the meet information and in posted notices:

"SNC WARM UP PROCEDURES WILL BE IN EFFECT AT THIS MEET".

EQUIPMENT:

• FLUTTER BOARDS and PULLBUOYS are allowed.

• HAND PADDLES and FLIPPERS (ZOOMERS) are NOT ALLOWED.

Effective September 1, 2009, all swimwear worn in swimming competitions sanctioned under the authority of Swimming Canada must conform to the January 1, 2010 FINA swimwear approval guidelines as listed below.

MATERIAL – The material of swimwear will definitively be constituted only by textile fabric(s). The FINA definition of “textile” currently is: “Material consisting of, natural and/or synthetic, individual and non-consolidated yarns used to constitute a fabric by weaving, knitting, and/or braiding.”

SHAPE – MEN: swimwear shall not extend above the navel or below the knee.

WOMEN: swimwear shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor extend below knee. No zippers or other fastening system is allowed.

USE – Swimmers shall wear only one swimsuit, taping is not permitted.

CONSISTENCY – Swimwear effectively manufactured and used shall correspond to and be fully consistent with FINA approved samples. Any modification before use (including impregnation) is prohibited. Moreover, there shall be no variation/modification for individual swimmers.
