In the foreground of the picture there is a boy in the street with a bicycle. Next to Merriam's store is a horse and cart. The cart has a sign on it reading, "Special Prices on Carpets Wall Paper and Etc. Merriam Brothers." On the side of the cart is painted, "Furniture." There are people walking and standing on the boardwalk, and there is furniture out on the boardwalk in front of Merriam's store. There is a man standing on the balcony, and a gas street lamp in front of the store.
