Job Titles: Lead Teacher
Ministry Department: Adventureland Childcare
Purpose: To plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities that provides a foundation for spiritual, social, emotional, and academically successful students. To practice respectful care that will meet the basic needs of each child at Adventureland Childcare.
Reports: Assistant Director
Responsibilities/Duties:

- Attend staff meetings.
- Plan, implement, and supervise lesson plans according to the Adventureland curriculum.
- Create an environment conducive to learning and exploration.
- Supervise children during work, play, and rest periods.
- Maintain communication with parents about their children through daily (or weekly) sheets and verbal communications.
- Chart children’s progress by documenting learning experiences and collecting portfolio entries.
- Be prepared to answer questions concerning classroom purpose, curriculum themes, age-appropriate developmental milestones, and classroom schedules.
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and clean environment according to instructions.
- Report to parents any accidents or incidents involving their child through accident/incident reports, phone calls, or face-to-face communication.
- Offer opportunities for families to be involved in their child’s learning experience.
- Maintain portfolios for children. Portfolios should contain collections of each child’s abilities and teacher observations.
- Adhere to the Adventureland Curriculum schedule.
- Conduct assessments for each child that will identify growth, strength, and weaknesses of each child.
- Maintain the privacy of each family by complying with the Adventureland standards of ‘confidentiality’.
- Be responsible for instructing Assistants and Substitutes of classroom etiquette and procedures.
- Train and supervise assistant teachers and / or aides and new teachers.
Goals and Requirements:
- Attend a minimum of 12 training hours yearly.*Staff meetings will be included in totals.
- Ensure your students have acquired the necessary skills to be promoted.
- Ensure your assistant teacher and part-time assistants are developing skills and learning from your experience.
- Offer input that would improve the Adventureland experience for clients and co-workers alike.
- Connect with newly enrolled families after two (2) weeks of enrollmentto ensure that we are meeting and exceeding goals and developments.
- Cause an increase in enrollment at Adventureland because of the level of excellence you adhere to.
