Job Description

Job Purpose

To help achieve the smooth operation of mail order pick, pack and despatch, ensuring accurate and speedy handling of goods and monitoring correct use of packing. To maintain a tidy and safe warehouse environment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

To work in the packing room and warehouse on a daily basis working alongside the Warehouse Operative in running a smooth mail order operation.

To take delivery of goods arriving in the warehouse and ensure the goods are dealt with accordingly and in a timely manner.

Keep packing room well organised, logical and tidy during the busy Christmas period.

Continually monitor packing room operations to eliminate mistakes and ensure the best possible method of packing is used.

Despatch all boxes/packets via the most appropriate routing and complete Royal Mail and APC Courier documentation, arranging special collections when required.

Assist with preparing bulk requests, pricing, checking clothing sizes, packing and labelling so as to ensure safe transportation to visitor centres.

Work with the Trading Co-ordinator & Warehouse Operative on the September stock take for mail order, events and visitor centre stocks stored in the Granary.

Organise any special mailings as requested including mail outs of donated goods sold on Ebay by Fundraising team.

To undertake any other duties which may be reasonably required.

NOTES

Education/
Qualifications / Good standard of education to GCSE level, with GCSE English and Maths at a C grade minimum.
Experience / Experience of working in a small but busy warehouse environment.
Experience of working as part of a team. / Experience of mail order and gift shop warehousing.
Experience of stock taking.
Skills/
Knowledge / Ability to prioritise daily tasks.
To understand written and verbal instructions.
Be a proactive problem solver.
Have keen attention to detail and ensure accuracy at all times.
Intermediate IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook and stock management systems).
To be able to take a logical approach to warehouse organisation and processes.
Effective time management skills.
Qualities/
