Role Summary
An exciting entry level position exists for a bright and enthusiastic person seeking to build a career in the Insurance industry, starting immediately for a 6 month fixed term contract.
As a Trainee Technician they will join our London Market Support team based in Bedford. This team provide technical and administrative support to the various Divisions within Howden UK Retail ensuring that any responsibilities are completed accurately and in accordance within the Group’s Operating Procedure Manual.
The successful candidate is likely to be seeking an entry level position where training and development will be given or may already have office based experience and be looking to develop a career in insurance.
Core responsibilities:
- General management of Binding Authorities including the following:
- Initial set up of System records for Binding Authorities for the Division
- DAA document production
- Creating Binder codes for use by the account handlers / technicians
- Liaising with Business Risk to ensure all documentation is fully compliant
- Use of ARAS for approval of all new facilities and markets
- Submission of monthly risk & premium bdx and aggregate reporting where applicable
- Updating the Binder Database regularly
- Full renewal process for Binding Authorities as and when they fall due
- Invoice debiting with Delinking submissions to XIS for open market business. Including dealing with queries, corrections etc.
- Reconciling of insurer ledgers in collaboration with our accounts department to ensure swift and correct allocation of insurer premiums.
- Monitoring of insurer payments for non-xis company markets to ensure insurers are paid in a timely manner
- Credit control and monitoring of PPW / PPC’s. Chasing for unpaid premiums and issuing TOT extensions where necessary
- Keeping Contract Certainty information up to date
Additional responsibilities:
- Document template management including the following:
- Letter templates
- Binding Authority certificate templates
- Market templates including MRCs, DAA & Lineslips
- TCF monitoring and completion
- General system management to ensure correct debiting, allocation of premium and Division codes being used
- Use of BAR & Atlas for the registration of Binders and application for extension of classes of business, territorial limits etc along with annual compliance reporting
- Assist London teams with technical advice regarding global taxes and regulatory requirements
Skills and abilities needed to perform the role
- 5 GCSEs or equivalent with strong results (Grade B or above) in Maths and English
- An ability to work to deadlines and to support other members of their team to achieve common goals
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Computer literate, ideally with working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Strong attention to detail and an ability to produce accurate work under pressure
