Role Purpose

To support the scrutiny, operational management, reporting and dissemination of good practice of the delivery of the NMC’s education and Local Supervisory Authority (LSA) quality assurance framework

Key accountabilities

·  Contribute to the strategic direction, governance and oversight of the operational delivery of the quality assurance framework of education and midwifery supervision to agreed timescales, procedures and quality measures.

·  Undertake stakeholder engagement with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and practice placement providers, UK education commissioners, UK Local Supervisory Authorities and LSA MOs in support of local quality management of nursing and midwifery education and midwifery supervision

·  Lead on the collection, analysis and reporting of QA intelligence from the regulatory and healthcare sectors that is material to the NMC quality assurance framework of education and midwifery

·  Quality assure reports on education and education and midwifery supervision in preparation for internal and external dissemination

·  Ensures that the NMC quality assurance framework addresses risks to public protection

·  Project manage standards compliance projects end-to-end, including scoping, engagement, drafting, reporting, communication and evaluation, drawing where appropriate on the expertise of colleagues

·  Provide timely information and respond to enquiries on the education and LSA quality assurance framework to support compliance of the NMC Rules and Standards

·  Work with the communications team to disseminate the QA framework and standards and communicate any changes to key audiences so that any changes are well understood

·  Ensure that standards compliance support the NMC’s wider regulatory functions (e.g. standards development, fitness to practise, registrations) and are consonant with other legislation binding on NMC registrants

Qualifications and experience

·  Degree or equivalent experience

·  Experience of professional education within a Higher Education context

·  Experience of working within a Quality Assurance and Supervision environment

·  Broad understanding of the regulatory context in which the NMC works

·  Broad understanding of devolution, the legislation and policy differences in the delivery of healthcare across all four countries within the UK

Skills, knowledge and abilities

·  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and clear report writing skills

·  Able to plan and oversee complex events involving external and internal stakeholders

·  Able to work across departments and organisations in a collaborative manner

·  Able to develop and maintain extensive networks
