Role Purpose

To assist the Data Information Manager in providing the support for the main database system (CMS – NMC Case Management System) and applying high level skills in producing complex management information and in depth system and database analysis.

Key Accountabilities

Systems administration and support

  • Maintain and ensure best practices for System Administration including any integrated online interfaces (footprints, reporting services).
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other database users, sharing best practice and liaising with the ICT systems trainer, Test team and business analysts.
  • Maintain and administer processes around system upgrades, system changes and data analysis to ensure data integrity and best practices.
  • To assist the Data Information Manager in advising the business with new system processes for management information and ensuring the accuracy and input of data.
  • To support and advise to different stakeholders on system changes and future system releases. Actively engage in system testing and identify issues that may affect public protection.

Data Input and Data Integrity

  • Promote and monitor the accuracy of information inputted within the system. Perform quality assurance checks on requests completed by Data Information officers.
  • Be a central point of contact for FtP and provide expert CMS advice in order to provide support and training to users of the database.

Data outputs

  • Assist Data and Information Manager to identify and undertake analysis of issues and trends emerging from the data.
  • Provide reports to the Data Information Manager in relation to volumes of work and task allocation.
  • Assist Data Information Manager on extracting and producing data for annual reports, half yearly and quarterly review reports for the regulator, meeting deadlines agreed by the business.
  • Assist Data Information Manager with highly complex management information and KPI reports required by the business on a monthly basis.
  • To implement new reports based on business requirements and develop new quality assurance processes.
  • Maintain a report library of all reporting services (SSRS) reports implemented.
  • Provide complex reports, undertaking a wide range of data analysis using SQL and Excel.
  • Ensure all reports are provided with an accurate methodology helping users understanding the concepts with data.

Freedom of Information requests

  • Acknowledge and understand requests from the Freedom of Information Team.
  • Liaise with Data Information Manager on the disclosure of data and where possible produce and provide reports on the requested requirements within the FoI Act deadlines.

Communication on the NMC website

  • Ensuring that the Data Information Officers workload is balanced at all times.
  • Liaise with Data Information Officers and internal directorates on deadlines for publication of information.
  • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure the correct processes are being followed to maintain a high accuracy of sensitive information being published including details of registrants, witnesses, patients or any other relevant information that can be considered a breach of personal information.
  • Perform audit reports on quality checks of the information published on the NMC website.

Support to Data Information Manager

  • Provide training and support to Data Information Officers ensuring processes are followed and system changes are accurately documented and updated within the team’s SOPs log.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience

  • Educated to a degree level
  • Intermediate to Advance qualification of SQL Server or equivalent substantial experience
  • Proven experience of producing and analysing statistics and report production
  • Experience of data integrity checks and rules
  • Good track record of managing own workload
  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Good research and analytical skills, business analysis skills would be an advantage.
  • Able to recognise and suggest improvements to existing systems
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to achieve results within tight deadlines
