Job Title – Relief Poultry Farm Manager/General Farm Worker

Applied Services is a farming business providing management services to the poultry industry. We operate 24/7 365 days a year in a results driven intensive agricultural sector.

Primary Objective of the role of Relief Poultry Farm Manager/General Farm Worker

The primary objective of this role is:-

Relief Poultry Farm Management and general farm work on our own and other independent farms.

Description of the role

The role predominantly involves the management of client farms for varying periods from a few hours to several months as required by the client, on occasion this may involve staying overnight, local accommodation will be provided.

Assisting the Company in the running of their farms.

You must ensure birds have feed and water and the environment within which they are kept is suitable with regard to ventilation, lighting, etc.

You are required to answer any alarm calls from the unit you are responsible for and respond in a timely manner. Where this is not possible you must notify your Manager immediately

You must remove dead, sick and lame birds from the growing space daily as a minimum

You must conduct sufficient checks on the birds to meet the requirements for the client and the relevant farm assurance schemes

To maintain sufficient daily records to meet the demands of the client and the relevant farm assurance schemes

Manage feed for the farms as per the clients feed plans, checking feed bins daily and ordering/ cancelling orders where necessary.

Report any breakdowns or incidences to your manager immediately.

Oversee the running of the farms to the best of your ability at all times.

Cleaning out and setting up of intensive broiler chicken houses.

Flexibility to cover last minute breakdowns or increases in work load

Drive and be responsible for allocated vehicle (where applicable)

Carry out vehicle and machinery checks, required routine maintenance (oil and water etc.)

Other tasks commensurate with the role or any other relevant or delegated duties required by the Area Manager

Qualifications / Skills

Hold a full valid driving licence along with having thenecessary driver license categoriesto tow trailers behind a van, operate a forklift truckand other farm vehicles

Ability to:

Work effectively as a member of a team

Work under own initiative

Maintain and promote professional relationships with customer

Ability to work flexible hours as demanded by the individual tasks, some farms are up to 3 hours away, work shifts vary and can involve long days and weekend work.

To be computer literate
