-Manufacturing Day October 2nd: RCCC planning an event for that day. Academy requested Mike Downs to reach out to Alevo for possible tour. If Mike Downs unable to make contact Scott Noel will attempt to reach out to his contacts there.

-CCS CTE Tours of NW Cabarrus Biotechnology & Agriculture, Hickory Ride Marketing & Culinary Arts, and Jay M. Robinson Advanced Manufacturing & Robotics on 12/01/15 (see attached invitation in email)

-County Fair: Currently taking place, some of the AOES students have gone to see some of the sustainability related booths. Kyle stated that if the AOES wanted more involvement next year such as a booth to discuss with him months prior and he would link them up with the fair manager.

Keith Anderson’s comments about first week of classes:

-Great energy from both Keith and Students

-Working on getting some working solar panels and turbines since the shipment of those materials has not come in. Stuart is going to loan the program one of his personal solar panels.

-Classroom built up except for laminate tops that are expected to come in next Tuesday

-Keith has been working with a student after class on AutoCAD to layout the room while take the opportunity to teach this student planning and AutoCAD skills

-Looking for input from the advisory board on what “soft skills” are missing from the students and the curriculum that will assist these students obtaining a job and more importantly adding value to the work force

-Discussion of promoting healthy living habits and exercise to augment the educational experience, learning capabilities, and energy of the academy students while emphasizing that healthy living enhances the impact the students can have on society.

-Initial plans to build a shed that will be powered by solar panel. Will work with Mr. Lachance and school maintenance staff on this project. Kyle to provide Keith with contacts at building inspections department.

Lisa Conger’s comments:

-All academy advisors are meeting monthly to share experiences and make sure all compliance paperwork is properly completed

-December 16th there will be an advisory meeting luncheon at the Education Center from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, contact her or Matthew Swain for more details

Mr. LaChance’s comments:

-Investigating the possibility of having some HS teachers teach course at the new MS (once it is built) to “lock those students in” to the Academy and what is being done at the HS
