JOB TITLE:Regional FundraisingManager – South Devon

DEPARTMENT:Community Fundraising

REPORTING TO:Director of Fundraising

PURPOSE OF JOB

To pro-actively increase the income raised from local communities, primarily in the defined geographic area, in a cost-effective way and in accordance with national income generation strategies.

To recruit, motivate and retain volunteers and third parties to raise money for the Fishermen’s Mission in the ways specified in the various strategies.

PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Regional Plan

  • As part of an integrated regional team, produce and work to a plan to enable the successful attainment of all objectives and targets as required by the Director of Business Development

Volunteers

  • To recruit volunteers (i) to undertake specific tasks or (ii) to be active supporters.
  • To manage, motivate, support and retain volunteers in order to maximise their income generation.

National Events

  • To fully support national events such as ‘Fish Friday’ so that income-generating potential is realised directly and through the fundraising efforts of third parties and volunteers.

Local Events

  • To support fundraising events organised and promoted by volunteers, offering guidance, advice and motivation as necessary, thereby increasing the income potential from such events.
  • To recruit and retain third party fundraisers, thereby increasing income.
  • To actively support the marketing and promotion of regional events

Corporates

  • To solicit support from local companies and employees for national events and local fundraising initiatives.

Legacies

To use every opportunity to effectively promote legacy giving

In Memoriam

  • To cost-effectively promote the In-Memoriam scheme

SECONDARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Groups & Associations

  • To generate income from local Groups and Associations and support any national/regional initiatives.

Communications

  • Working with the Director of Business Development, to maximise targeted publicity for volunteer recruitment and fundraising initiatives.
  • To undertake such direct PR activity as is necessary to enable effective promotion of other aspects of the key areas of responsibility.

Promoting the Charity

  • To cost-effectively and accurately promote and represent the work of the charity

GENERAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Administration

  • To regularly report to the Director of Business Developmentas required.
  • To keep and submit records of all fundraising contacts and activities, as required by the Director of Business Development

Working with other Fishermen’s Mission Colleagues

  • To work cooperatively with other staff so that beneficial outcomes are thereby maximised.

General

  • To perform such other tasks as the Director of Business Development might require.
  • To ensure all activities comply with appropriate legal requirements and with Fishermen’s Mission policies.

Desirable qualities

The following would be an asset

  • An ability to relate to people with confidence and ease
  • Some experience of public speaking
  • Familiarity with Information Technology, especially e-mail
  • Organisational and administrative abilities
  • Confidence to work independently
  • A willingness to explore new ideas and develop projects
  • Empathy and understanding of our mission
  • Experience in fundraising or a similar role
  • Some experience of participating in, organising and/or managing events
  • An understanding of, or the experience of working with volunteers
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to cold call and to network at all levels
  • Pro-active with the ability to get things done
  • Willingness to travel across the Region with some evening and weekend working
  • A team player willing to support his/her colleagues
  • Able to represent the charity to a high professional standard at all times
  • It is important that candidates are able to drive and have use of a car

Appropriate training opportunities will be provided and may include visits to ports around the UK.

Practicalities

Appointment: Permanent part time contract for 2 days per week, with a three month probationary period

Salary: £11,800- £12,500 per annum, experience dependent. (£29,500 - £31,250 FTE)

Holiday entitlement: 10 days per annum plus pro rata statutory public holidays

Pension scheme: The Fishermen’s Mission offers auto enrolment in the Group Personal Pension Scheme after completion of 3 months service.

Life Assurance: Offered to employees on joining the Group Personal Pension Scheme

Line management: The successful applicant will be responsible to the Director of Business Development.
