JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:Recovery Coordinator

Responsible To: Clinical Lead Manager

Accountable To:Recovery Service Manager

Salary Scale: NJC SP 24-28 (£24,260 – 27,232) (inclusive of London Weighting)

Contract:Permanent

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week (including some weekends and evenings)

Entitlements:5% employers pension contribution (Available after three months)

Purpose & Basic Objectives of Post

The Recovery Coordinatorwill work collaboratively with people recovering from drug and alcohol issues, and other professionals. The Recovery Coordinator will assess; risk assess; offer 1:1 support and coaching; develop personalised recovery and action plans; review; conduct therapeutic groupwork; and ensure positive outcomes and service exits.

1.Clinical

1.1To conduct and record risk assessments as standard with all new service-users, and to review risks as appropriate, taking necessary actions to reduce and manage risk in liaison with management.

1.2To collaboratively develop and review treatment and recovery plans with service-users based on their strengths, needs and aspirations.

1.3To ensure service-users have access to the resources and services that they need to recover and to integrate these into their recovery plans.

1.4To carry a weighted caseload of service-users with varying degrees of recovery capital and problem severity at various stages of change.

1.5To deliver evidence-based psychosocial interventions in 1:1 and group settings, i.e. motivational interviewing, ITEP mapping, Extended Brief Interventions (EBI).

1.6To conduct three way meetings and conference calls with keyworkers, criminal justice workers, other professionals and service-users.

1.7To maintain up-to-date service-user case records on the shared case management system, including assessments, case notes, and group attendances.

1.8To provide specialist recovery-focused input into the recovery service, alcohol and drug services, Criminal Justice Integrated Team (CJIT) and local community.

1.9To undertake drug testing for service-users where required.

1.10To ensure that service-users maintain regular health checks including sexual health, BBV and tuberculosis screening.

1.11To assist management with monitoring requirements for quarterly and ad hoc reports to commissioners, by collating any required data, case studies or other information in a timely fashion.

1.12To build strong relationshipswith partner agencies and other community services.

2.Administrative Responsibilities

2.1To keep, complete and maintain accurate records of all service-user work either online or face-to-face. To ensure best practice in clinical record keeping.

2.2To keep complete and maintain accurate records of personal supervision and appraisal.

2.3To initiate and undertake surveys or audits as necessary to own work and that of the team.

3.Professional

3.1To follow the administrative procedures of HAGA.

3.2To develop and maintain mechanisms for monitoring and evaluation of the work, in conjunction with management.

3.3To keep up to date paperwork and/or database records of all work undertaken in the format of support plans and service-user’s case notes where appropriate.

3.4To provide written and verbal reports and conduct correspondence as requested by management.

3.5To make client referrals as part of an integrated service.

3.6To ensure that all documentation required by funders and commissioners is completed accurately and within the timeframe requested.

3.7To collect statistical and monitoring information with particular focus on quality standards and in line with service level agreements.

3.8To adhere to Safeguarding of Children and Young People and Vulnerable Adults policies and procedures and report any concerns to your line manager or senior manager, sharing HAGA’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

3.9To ensure the maintenance of a high standard of Health and Safety at all times in line with both HAGA procedure, and to report all accidents/incidents, which take place both verbally to manager and, on the standard forms.

3.10To ensure service-user and organisational confidentiality as per agreed agency policy.

3.12To be aware of and to adhere to HAGA’s policies and procedures.

4.Personnel & Training

4.1To attend and contribute to internal and external meetings, and group and individual supervision as requested by line manager.

4.2To identify training needs and undertake "in-house" and external training as requested and approved by line manager.

4.3To develop one’s own professional growth with input from line manager.

4.4To ensure that all requests for leave and working arrangements are discussed with the line manager in advance, and report/certify all sickness as appropriate.

5.Liaison and Communication

5.1To communicate effectively with colleagues, and all other professionals and service-users.

5.2To be available for advice and consultation to other statutory and voluntary agency staff, and work cooperatively to develop effective responses.

5.3To undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade and post as specified by your line manager.

Education, qualifications,
training and work experience /
  • Level Three or above Health and Social Care or other related subject;
  • Two years experience in substance misuse, health, social care or criminal justice, and of delivering alcohol/drug/recovery interventions (i.e. CBT, Motivational Interviewing).

  • Recovery Coaching qualification or training
  • SMART Recovery training

Knowledge, skills and experience /

  • Ability to understand and work with, the issues that affect people with substance misuse problems
