Job title: Reaching Communities Project Coordinator
Responsible to:Myplace Business Manager
Hours of work: 30 hours per week
Job purpose:To coordinate the planning, design and delivery of the Reaching Communities Project at Myplace Rotherham
Main Responsibilities:
- To co-ordinate the design, delivery and evaluation of the Reaching Communities Project.
- To engage with young people from the Roma community and to listen to, befriend, support and to advocate on young people’s behalf.
- To plan, organise, deliver and evaluate programmes and activities which enable the personal development of young people and enable them to develop emotional resilience.
- To support and signpost young people to access information, advice and guidance.
- To manage and support the Youth Forum to help develop, run and evaluate the project.
- To work closely and maintain good communication with funders and project partners including Rotherham IYSS to develop a cohesive youth offer for young people.
- To provide training and volunteering opportunities for young people.
- To manage, supervise, support and train a team of youth workers, casual youth workers, young apprentices and volunteers.
- To ensure the stated outputs andoutcomes of the project are met and to provide regular reports to the Myplace Business Manager.
- To be responsible for administration and finance including health and safety, and the recording of membership, attendance, outcomes and achievements.
- To be responsible for fundraising activities and the submission of funding bids to external funders for the development of youth work provision within the centre and to manage any delegated budgets (including external funding).
- To manage the behaviour of young people in the centre and deal with issues that arise.
- To be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and/or vulnerable adults.
- Undertake aspects of facilities management under the direction of the Myplace Business Manager.
- Ensure safe opening and closing of the Myplace centre.
- Ensure health and safety standards are identified and are maintained, risks are identified, controls implemented and communicated to all relevant persons.
- Work in accordance with YMCA White Rose’s policies, procedures, principles, vision and values and be proactive in implementing equal opportunities in all aspects of work.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of your work.
- Attend relevant training, participate in professional updating/development opportunities and partake in regular work review procedures as required.
- Undertake any other duties that are commensurate with the post.

Experience of design, delivery and evaluation of projects and activities with young peopleExperience of engaging with a wide range of young people (2 years minimum) / A current First Aid Certificate and recent Child Protection Training
An understanding of the issues which concern young people today and an ability to audit young people’s needs and plan and deliver a corresponding youth work curriculum / Experience of writing successful funding bids and managing budgets and outcomes
Experience of working with a diverse range of young people and an understanding of different community needs and issues / Experience of working with young people from the Roma Community
An ability to establish, motivate and develop positive relationships with young people, advocate on young people’s behalf, and involve them in decision making processes
A recognised qualification in youth and community work at NVQ Level 3 or related subject or substantial relevant experience
Ability to manage young people’s behaviour and deal with conflict
Experience developing positive partnerships with statutory and community partners
Experience managing and supervising paid staff and volunteers and the ability to lead, motivate and supervise staff and volunteers
Ability to carry out administrative duties and meet deadlines (to include submission of external funding bids and writing quality reports)
Excellent interpersonal skills including spoken and written communication and presentation skills
Ability to work in a team and on own initiative
Positive, enthusiastic and committed
Able to undertake a flexible and varied working pattern including evenings and weekends
Must be able to be contacted by telephone and deal with out of hours emergencies
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults
Good understanding of health safety issues and experience of carrying out risk assessments and implementing health safety controls
