Hours:37.5 hours per week

Fixed Term:Contract to 31 March 2018 (possible extension until May 2018)

Base:Bradford and Leeds, West Yorkshire (office location TBC)

Purpose of Job:

To liaise with staff, clients and employees in Job Centre Plus sites, Apprentice Hubs and Bike Friendly Businesses to promote the uptake of adult cycle training and cycle provision throughout the West Yorkshire Combined Authority region.

Dimensions of Job:

In partnership with BikeRight!, Sustrans has won a 12 month contract to deliver adult cycle training and a bike provision scheme for unemployed people, apprentices and ‘Bike Friendly Businesses’ in West Yorkshire. The post holder will lead the delivery of this innovative project from a new base in Bradford and implement a promotional plan and training scheme to drive client interest and supply BikeRight! with eligible participants.

The post holder will report to the Delivery Co-ordinator, England North.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To support the CityConnect Cycles programme and BikeRight! working across Bradford, Leeds, Wakefield, Kirklees and Calderdale to deliver the City Connect Cycles project’s adult cycle training and provision of bikes work streams
  2. To liaise with Job Centre Plus, Apprentice Hub and ‘Bike Friendly Business’ representatives in order to promote the CityConnect Cycles scheme.
  3. To develop and implement training of Job Centre Plus, Apprentice Hub and ‘Bike Friendly Business’ champions, allowing them to promote the project and refer clients remotely.
  4. To promote the scheme to eligible clients by planning regular pop up events at designated locations.
  5. To oversee, record and monitor information regarding scheme participation.
  6. To be responsible for personal Health & Safety obligations when working in the designated office and on site.
  7. To produce up to date reporting information on project activities to CityConnect Cycles.
  8. To regularly collect participant good news stories and feedback to the CityConnect Cycles communications team.
  9. To ensure compliance with the internal and external policies, procedures and legislation including data protection.
  10. To maintain good relations with the public and be an ambassador for CityConnect Cycles and Sustrans.

Communication and marketing:

  1. To contribute towards raising the profile of Sustrans, by representing the charity at meetings, activities and events, if required.
  2. To support and comply with the charity’s guidance on branding, tone of voice and key messages, positively contributing towards raising Sustrans’ profile.

Training and personal development:

  1. To attend essential Sustrans training as required by the Charity.
  2. To ensure own personal development by working to objectives set as part of the Charity’s appraisal process.

Working Conditions:

The post holder’s time will be spent between working in the Bradford and Leeds offices and Job Centre Plus centres, Apprentice Hubs and Bike Friendly Businesses throughout Bradford, Leeds, Wakefield, Kirklees and Calderdale. There will be a requirement to travel within the West Yorkshire region to undertake duties and the occasional weekend working.

Qualification, training, education / Good standard of education.
Experience / Substantial experience of project delivery with a range of partners
Experience of delivering behavioural change projects
Experience of delivering projects in a community setting
Experience of working with adults from a range of backgrounds, ethnic groups and abilities
Experience of budget management
Experience of producing reports and monitoring
Skills and abilities / Ability to have a flexible approach to prioritise and manage own workload
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
