Job Summary:

Perform and/or manage planning and engineering projects in support of future wastewater collection and treatment facilities for the District and for development of administrative controls for community collection systems.

Essential Functions:

Perform and/or manage facilities planning or environment studies that include background data development, alternatives analysis, environmental impact assessment, cost estimation and selection of recommended plans.

Review environmental regulations.

Direct the use of resources in meeting operational and capital improvement projects. Track project progress, identify issues of concern to the District, gather pertinent facts and develop formal comments where appropriate.

Provide coordination with other agencies and represent the District’s position in matters involving planning studies or regulatory development on an issue-specific basis. Negotiate with community officials on issues or project-specific concerns.

Make presentations to external groups in support of the District’s overall efforts or to report project findings.

Provide liaison to external projects in planning, design or construction phases. Provide leadership and/or support for internal and external project teams.

Assume responsibility for supervising co-op students and student assistants.

Provide support for GIS-related activities.

Assist in coordination of District’s Community Discharge Permit program as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education:Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or closely related field. Masters degree desirable.

Experience:Four (4) years planning or engineering experience.

Specific Skills:Knowledge of the theories, principles and practices used in planning of capital improvement projects, federal and state environmental regulations, supervision.

Ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively both orally and in writing.

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc:

Possession of a current State of Ohio Professional Engineer’s License.

Valid Ohio Driver License and a driving record in accordance with the District’s insurance carrier.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Co-ops and student assistants.

Working Conditions:

General office environment.

Physical Demands:

A majority of time spent sitting with occasional standing and walking.

Interfaces:

Internal:Interfaces with District personnel throughout the organization.

External:Interfaces with general public, agencies, and other corporations.
