Job Title: Period FoodEngager(Seasonal) 0-37 Hours

Grade: M1/M2

Responsible to: Period Food Supervisor

Key Internal Relationships:Period Food Team Leader;Head of Catering; Engagement Supervisors;Engagers;Volunteers and Placements; Apprentices

Purpose:To work as part of the Period Food Team ensuring excellent engagementwith Visitors to the Museum across the Period Food areas andother areas as allocated. To work in the Chip Shop; Bakery; food outlets and pop up food sales venues across the Museum and during events

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Helping the Period Food Team engage with Visitors through a variety of interpretive sales techniques and demonstrations, specifically with food across a variety of areas within the Museum
  • Helping to ensure the safe and good management and housekeeping of the areas/exhibits within the Period Food and Engagement Team
  • Ensuring health and hygiene standards are adhered to relating to food standards and safety
  • Delivering learning activities when required across the Period Food areas and other areas as allocated. Some posts will be required to undertake a CRB check (Criminal Record Bureau)
  • Cash handling duties are required
  • To work in any of the Period Food and catering outlets within the Engagement Team areas and other areas as allocated

Team Duties:

  • Helping to ensure that the Period Food Team continue to deliver the vision of the Museums current and future plans – ‘putting the Visitor first’
  • Helping the Engagement Team to collaborate with other Staff/Volunteers in the Museum
  • Helping the Period Food Team to adhere to quality systems and operating procedures to facilitate the safe, smooth and timely delivery of services by the Period Food Team
  • To work in collaboration with other members of Engagement and within the Catering and Period Food Teams specifically

General Responsibilities:

  • To carry out the duties of the post in accordance with the Museum’s Equal Opportunity Policy, Code of Conduct and Health and Safety legislation and regulations
  • To ensure compliance with standing orders, financial regulations audit and management procedures
  • To carry out any other duties within the level of responsibility as may be determined from time to time
