Job title: Payroll andRevenue Officer

Reporting to: Management Accountant

Salary Band: £20,600- £23,175

The Revenue Officeris a key member of the Finance team tasked with ensuring timely information is recorded in the Finance system and CRM so that Raleigh is able to track volunteer numbers and income. As well as being responsible for volunteer income, the position also works closely with the Fundraising team to ensure that donations are correctly recorded.

As a busy medium-sized charity Raleigh is dependent on the flexibility and team-working of its staff. As well as their specific responsibilities all members of Raleigh’s staff are therefore expected to contribute proactively to supporting their colleagues across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll

  1. To prepare the monthly payroll, ensuring correct treatment of joiners and leavers, updating tax codes as notified by HMRC and any voluntary deductions.
  2. To submit returns to HMRC and prepare the payday BACS transmission.
  3. To submit returns and payment to the Charity’s pension provider.
  4. To monitor pension scheme members for new staff, arranging presentations, etc to obtain written instruction on joining or not
  5. To prepare ad-hoc payroll and pension reports as requested by the Director of Finance and Corporate Services or the Management Accountant.

Income Accounting and Reporting

  1. To process venturers’ applications and allocate them with an expedition code.
  2. To produce weekly/periodical reports summarising fundraising activity for venturers and volunteer managers.
  3. To report venturers withdrawn and sign up statistics.
  4. To deal with venturers’ and volunteer managers’ outstanding balance queries.
  5. To remind venturers and volunteer managers’ of fundraising deadline by email, text and phone.
  6. To reconcile individual venturer and volunteer manageraccounts.
  7. To process ICS volunteer fundraising targets, to deal with queries on outstanding balances
  8. To prepare and submitGift Aid claims on a quarterly basis.
  9. To reconcile the Sales Ledger on a monthly basis and post the cash adjustment journal.
  10. To raise invoices for Raleigh’s trading subsidiary (Raleigh Enterprises Limited) and to address any unpaid balances.

Receipt Processing

  1. To process debit/credit cards payments from venturers, volunteer managers and individual donors.
  2. To record donations received from Just Giving, Virgin Money Giving and Paypal websites weekly.
  3. To record donations received from Rapidata relating to direct debit giving fortnightly.
  4. To record income received by bank transfer in Finance system.
  5. To record cash and cheque donations in the ‘post book’ and Finance system, and bank weekly.
  6. To record fundraised donations including any information on restrictions.

Other

  1. To assist in development and testing of sales ledger processes in Netsuite.
  2. To assist with the preparation of information and documentation for the Group’s auditors.
  3. To oversee opening of post withthe Accounts Assistant.
  4. To perform other duties as requested by the Director of Finance and Corporate Services orthe Management Accountant.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • AAT or similar qualification
  • Excellent attention to detail, reliability, and a hands-on approach
  • Flexible, willing to adapt and develop in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Strong communicator with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Deal with complex accounting process.
  • Enthusiastic with a positive “can-do” attitude
  • Excellent IT skills, including intermediate Excel skills.
  • Experience of a customer dealing role / credit control.

Desirable

  • Experience of payroll processing and reporting
  • Pursuing a career in an accounts role.
  • Dealing with Foreign currency.
  • Knowledge of NetSuite CRM and finance system.

Normal office hours are Monday to Friday, 9.00 - 5.00
