Job Title: Part-time,Student Support Specialist– Advising II

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The part-time Student Support Specialist– Advising IIposition works on the front-line in the Student Services Division,professionally interacts, greets and directs visitors and students as well as answers the phone system for the College. This position is responsible for relaying accurate and current information to the general public, faculty, staff, and students and requires basic customer service and organizationalskills. This position also assists with other areas of the student services division as needed. The positionreports to the Director, Student Services.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  1. Serves as receptionist and initial contact for the College. This includes meeting and greeting visitors answering incoming calls, routing calls and visitors to the appropriate individual or area.
  2. Presents a positive image of the College to visitors whose initial contact with the College is this position.
  3. Provides informational, marketing and other materials to visitors including course schedules, applications and other related forms.
  4. Serves as centralized point-of-contact for all scheduled College events for the community, students, faculty & Staff. Maintains monthly College-wide calendar of events and activities.
  5. Provides assistance to other areas of the Student Services division such as Financial Aid and the Enrollment Services Office as directed.
  6. Performs a variety of general support duties including data entry, filing and copying.
  7. Assists in the College’s recruitment efforts by making initial contact and follow-up phone calls and/or emails to prospective students.
  8. Prepares inquiry packets for mailing including ordering brochures and other materials used in packets.
  9. Responsible for printing student photo ID badges and monthly reports to Student ActivitiesCoordinator.
  10. Responds to the informational needs of evening students and staff by providing data concerning the campus, classroom assignments, courses, programs and schedules.
  11. Handles security problems that arise during evening hours.
  12. Performs clerical and related duties as assigned by the Director, Student Services.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

  • High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
  • Three years of experience in a clerical, customer-service setting.
  • Knowledge of the functions and locations of all departments and persons at the College.
  • Knowledge of Emergency Plan Manual.
  • Knowledge of office, clerical and basic business procedures.
  • Ability to perform some job duties in the evening and/or weekend.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to communicate with students, College personnel and the public in a professional manner.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Proficiency in various software programs, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

SALARY:$11.03 per hour minimum
