Job Title: Outcomes and Evaluation Lead

Grade: £25,641-£29,073 depending on Location (Family Action Grade 3)

Reports to: Training Manager

Job Function: Leading on the development of high quality impact data across Family Action and strengthening the evidence supporting the efficacy of our services.

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Work closely with academic partners, and advisory organisations (such as the Early Intervention Foundation) to coordinate and deliver a programme of research (including involvement in RCT/QED studies) in order to improve the standard of evidence for Family Action’s programmes (in line with the EIF standards of evidence)

2. Work closely with the Development, Insight and Influencing Officer to develop robust, evidence-based Theories of Change for all new and existing service models

3.Coordinate and manage a programme of service evaluations and research studies from start to finish (including evaluation design, procurement, project management, communication of findings etc)

4. Monitor the quality and quantity of outcomes data through In-Form (online case management system) to build high quality outcomes data for all service types across Family Action

5. Lead onInternal evaluations and support other departments and services in Family Action with outcomes data reporting and analysis

6. Identify and implement appropriate outcomes tools to provide evidence of our impact for new service types (and existing services types when needed), to help demonstrate the impact of the services’ work in line with commissioners’ requirements

7.To work closely with Family Action’s Marketing and Communications team to provide impact data analysis and content for Family Action’s Impact report.

8. Develop and implement the use of appropriate hard and clinical outcomes across Family Action to improve the quality of impact data across services

9. Work with the Business System Manager to ensure that the organisation’s performance management includes an outcomes focus and to ensure that services can easily record outcomes data and that it is available for analysis

Person Specification

Outcomes and Evaluation Lead

1. Educated as a minimum to degree level or equivalent, and evidence of a commitment to continuing learning and professional development.

2. Considerable experience of working in research and/or service evaluation in health/social care/education/voluntary sector

3. Experience of project management and working across multiple projects

4.a) Excellent IT skills including expertise in excel, databases/systems (Essential)

b) Experience of using data analysis software such as NVIVO, STATA or SPSS (Desirable)

5. a) Knowledge of a range of evaluation/research methodologies, particularly quantative research methods (Essential)

b) Experience of RCT/QED studies (Desirable)

6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience of analysing complex data and presenting the findings in an engaging format suitable for a range of audiences

7. Ability to work independently whilst building strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.

8. Excellent negotiation and influencing skills with an ability to implement improvements and new ways of working

9. Highly organised and structured approach to work

10.Willingness and capacity to travel across the country, when necessary
