JOB TITLE: NM GRADS Technical Assistance/ Sustainability Consultant

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Technical Assistance/ SustainabilityConsultant will help provide technical assistance to GRADS(Graduation, Reality And Dual- role Skills) sites across the state (including new sites/ new GRADS teachers), conduct GRADS site reviews and update the GRADS sustainability plan to reflect all 8 sustainability factors from the Office of Adolescent Health Building Sustainable Programs.

EDUCATION:

REQUIRED:

  • Secondary NM Teaching license

EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED:

  • 4 years minimum experience in teen parent support program.
  • Experience in GRADS database entry and required GRADS/ GRADS PLUS forms.

PREFERRED:

  • 3 or more years experience teaching in a GRADS program.
  • Familiar with GRADS and GRADS PLUS components.

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE: As stated above under Educational Requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop, with collaborative input from the GRADS state team, a NM GRADS Sustainability Plan, using the list of 8 sustainability factors from the Office of Adolescent Health Building Sustainable Programs. The sustainability plan will be monitored monthly during GRADS staff meetings.
  1. Assist GRADS State Team to arrange for state staff, teacher, and student testimony at interim committees and legislative hearings as requested.
  1. Provide technical assistance to new GRADS teachers/sites and site visits as needed. Technical assistance areas includes, but not limited to: how to start a GRADS program, how to gain administrative support, how to gain staff support, how to recruit expectant and parenting teens, how to make lesson plans with GRADS resources, how to make community connections, how to case manage students, etc.
  1. Conduct approximately 10 GRADS site reviews.
  1. Assist in updating/revising the GRADS curriculum. This includes collecting lesson plans for online teacher resource link, and making a NM version of the curriculum to reflect consistency among GRADS sites.
  1. Submit a monthly summary of work activities and progress updates to the GRADS state office by the 7th of the following month.
  1. Additional tasks as assigned by GRADS Co-Directors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

•Effective written and oral communication skills.

•Competency in the use of basic computer skills and software.

•Willingness to participate in cross training in other GRADS program components.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: Mostly insidework, traveling throughout the state, some overnight trips, facilitating and/or helping with NM GRADS Trainings in or off-site, and some lifting of materialswhen traveling or during training preparation.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT (LENGTH OF CONTRACT): 1/2 time position for 185 days.
