Job Title: Night Bus Driver
Responsible to: Student Involvement Manager
Responsible for: N/A
Strategic relationships: Students, Officers, Staff, Senior Managers and Trustees from Solent Students’ Union.
Hours of work: Minimum of one 6 hour shift per week during term time only plus additional hours as necessary, although this is not expected to be excessive.
Fixed Term Contract to June 2018
Purpose of the Post: To provide the Unions’ Night Bus service.
Duties and responsibilities
1.0 Driving and Administration
· To drive the Night Bus on allotted routes
· To carry out safety checks on the vehicle before and after each shift
· To ensure the vehicle is appropriately fuelled and maintained
· To drive safely at all times and adhere to all current driving regulations
· To drive economically, with fuel consumption in mind
· To accurately record the passenger usage of the service
· To complete a mileage recording sheet after each shift
· To report any faults with the vehicle quickly and accurately
2.0 Customer care
· To interact with passengers when appropriate, creating a welcoming environment
· To assist with customer accessibility where necessary
· To ensure that customers’ expectations are exceeded whenever possible
· To be contactable through the provided company phone and Twitter account
· To deal with enquiries ensuring the highest standard of customer
· To deal with customer feedback, whether positive or negative, in a courteous, efficient and timely manner.
· To work in effective collaboration with Student officers and all departments of the Students’ Union
3.0 General
· To comply with all Solent Students’ Union policies, procedures and governing documents
· To work within Solent Students’ Unions Mission, Vision and Values at all times
· To be responsible for the effective management of financial and other resources in accordance with the Best Value principle of the Students’ Union as a not for profit organisation.
· To work proactively to ensure environmental sustainability of all operations.
· To assist in key events throughout the year such as Freshers’ Fair and elections as necessary.
· To carry out all other duties that may be assigned by the Students’ Union
· To portray a positive image, both internally and externally of the Students’ Union by displaying high standards of service, integrity, punctuality, politeness and professionalism.
