Starting Salary:£29,500per annum (+ incentive scheme)

(inclusive of 6% pension contribution)

Location:Freshwinds'centre in Selly Oak, Birmingham.

Hours:37.5 hours per week.

Holiday25 days per year plus bank holidays

Job Summary:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work for a charity that is going through a major period of expansion. We require a Business Development Manager to be integral in making that happen and to be at the forefront of this exciting time for Freshwinds.

You will be pivotal to the future success of Freshwinds and be part of a forward thinking charity with a passion to support people and work with a team with a desire to make a difference.

Whilst challenging, this position will be rewarding and key in delivering results for the charity. You must be an individual who can achieve targets, butalso driven to exceed them, whose function isto identify and develop new business for Freshwinds working within our expansion plans development strategy.

You willhave the abilityto identify and source opportunities through networking, negotiating and tendering to fund current charity activities and new innovative activities that meet Freshwinds vision with particular reference to (but not exclusive) health and social care (including Public Health) contracts.

The Business Development Manager will have the ability to identify gaps in current service provision and working with a dedicated management team, address them to ensure we meet clients' needs within the aims and objectives of the charity.

Key Activities /
  • Contribute to and implement an innovative, dynamic and forward thinking development strategy enabling sustainable incomethrough statutory and other sector funding.
  • Identify and secure sustainable funding for the continuation of current projects and enabling delivery of new projects and activities.
  • Identify opportunities allowing the charity to expand and enhance the services we currently provide.
  • Work with your networks and develop new networks and links with relevant individuals and statutory, private and Third Sector bodies.
  • Identify and attend relevant meetings and to seek out tendering and funding opportunities e.g. Clinical Commissioning Groups, Third Sector and local and central government opportunities.
  • Assist the CEO, Directors and Project managers to ensure a high standard of delivery and monitoring of project activities and outcomes.
  • To enhance the reputation and work of the charity within the Third Sector and our standing as a service provider.

Main Responsibilities /
  • To identify new business opportunity, in line with the organisations strategy.
  • To network, source and identify relevant funding opportunities and sources to facilitate the development of new projects and the continuation and improvement of existing projects.
  • To prepare and put forward successful tenders and applications for funding opportunities.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the charity’s sustainable funding strategy.
  • To keepabreast of local and national priorities, strategies and policies and ensure that these are reflected in the charity’s activities and performance.
  • To gather information and proactively negotiate regarding viable funding opportunities/sources.
  • To represent the charity where appropriate with a view to contributing towards the development of local/national strategies and consultation processes.
  • Working with Operations Manager to ensure monitoring and evaluation measures have been identified to meet the needs of the charity and of funders.
  • As an integral part of the management team, maintain and implement guidelines, codes of conduct and protocols for the safe and lawful operation of the charity’s work.
  • Ensure that project budgets are managed effectively and correctly spent within specified criterion, achieving key performance indicators and ensuring that these are met and/or exceeded.
  • Write comprehensive service reports as requiredthat enableus to be successful in tendering for funding for other projects.
  • Where appropriate make presentations and links to inform relevant agencies of service strategies and activities.
  • The ability to interpret demographical data, compile surveys and assessments to identify population needs and develop appropriate responses.
  • Inform the Chief Executive and Directors of agencies/bodies that can appropriately address the needs of clients and enhance the work of the charity.
  • Deputise, when appropriate, for the duties of other managers.
  • To undertake any other appropriate or necessary duties or responsibilities required by Freshwinds in the course of its activities and work.
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure all new service provision is integrated into the current structure quickly and efficiently.
